British exhibition of Jimi Hendrix photographs

London gallery marks fortieth anniversary of gifted guitarist’s death.

Jimi Hendrix arrived in London, England in 1966 as a virtual unknown; within days of his arrival he was the talk of the town.

Forty years after his death, Jimi Hendrix is still considered one of the best guitarists of all time. To mark the anniversary, Snap Gallery has organized an exhibition of photos by Gered Mankowitz entitled  “The Experience: Jimi Hendrix at Mason’s Yard.”

Mankowitz’s studio was located in the epicentre of sixties London counterculture. He took some of the most famous shots of the guitarist, including the famous smoking portrait of Hendrix.

The exhibition runs until November 16, 2010 with additional information available at snapgalleries.com
