Britney Spears denies abuse story

Pop singer denies story of being physically abused by current beau.

A representative of Britney Spears states that a tabloid report claiming the singer was physically abused by boyfriend, Jason Trawick, is not true, reports People.

The allegations come from Jason Alexander, who was married for a brief 55 hours to Spears in 2004. He reportedly claimed that Spears had confided in him that Trawick “beat on me.”

Spears’ representative denies the story saying that Trawick “has never laid a hand on Britney. Every aspect of the story published by Star magazine is completely and utterly false."

A recording of the alleged conversation between Alexander and Spears has been released online, however, the singer’s rep says that the woman’s voice is not Spears.

"The statements attributed to Jason Alexander are a complete fabrication as Britney has not had any form of communication with Mr. Alexander in years," the rep continued. "The audio recording … purporting to be between Britney Spears and Jason Alexander is so obviously fake as to be laughable."

A source close to the singer who is celebrating her 29th birthday today (December 2), said the relationship between Spears and Trawick was better than ever and that they were very happy together. Last May, Spears and Trawick had reportedly separated for a while.

The rep added: "These irresponsible statements are defamatory and Britney Spears’ legal team will be taking legal action against all of the appropriate parties."
