Britney Spears resurrects old Madonna song

Spears was only 16 months when Burning Up was released in 1983.

Mention Madonna and Britney Spears in the same sentence, and most people might remember the famous smooch the two shared a few years back at the MTV Video Music Awards, reports HitFix.

In a nod to her mentor, Spears has released a cover version of the Madonna song Burning Up, which can now be heard online. According to reports, the song may end up on the play list for the Femme Fatale tour, which kicks off June 16 in Sacramento.

Burning Up is one of Madonna’s first successes along with a provocative music video that portrays the ’80s in all its Miami Vice glory. The young singer writhes lasciviously on the ground and toys with her dog collar necklace – what was considered controversial in 1983 now appears quite tame by today’s standards.

If Britney Spears danced to this song when it was released, she was probably in diapers, being only 16 months old at the time.

Take a look and listen for yourself and see the original Madonna video and listen to the Spears version, and see what you think.
