Britney Spears Sets the Record Straight

Exasperated by the latest gossip reports, singer Britney Spears responded to the media via her internet site.

In an open letter to the public on her official website Wednesday, the star said that the stories about her alleged pregnancy and marital problems are false.

Targeting the American magazines Us Weekly and Star, the singer called their work hypocritical and untrue.  She added that these magazines are not very concerned with reporting the facts.

Star and Us Weekly have written that the star is 3 months pregnant and had visited a doctor.  They showed pictures that revealed a larger stomach and breasts as proof of her pregnancy.

"Your employees are a reflection of your magazine," Spears wrote in her letter. "I’m really concerned about the people you hire to work at your companies."

The two magazines published responses.  Us Weekly wrote: "Unlike other magazines that pay for access to Britney, the writers at Us Weekly have high journalistic standards and do their own researching and reporting for all stories. Our coverage of Britney has proven to be accurate."
