Lawyer Michael Flanagan, who represented Spears in her recent case involving driving without a license, said that her victory in court marks a new beginning for the star.
"It marks a turnaround for her. This case was a thorn in her side for more than a year, a reminder of the bad old days. She’s thrilled the court system, for once, worked in her favor," Flanagan told People.
The jury in Spears’ trial was unable to come to a unanimous decision in the case, and a mistrial was declared.
In the meantime, the 26-year-old singer’s finances will continue to be managed by her father, Jamie, until December 31. Flanagan added, "Her father is doing a sensational job for her. And with his guidance, she’s really gotten her life together."
