The singer worked with several well-known producers for the CD, including Nate Hills, Bloodshy & Avant, Freescha and Kara DioGuardi.
The first single from the disc, "Gimme More", is the biggest hit for Spears since her song "Baby One More Time". Blackout is the first studio album from Spears since 2003’s In The Zone.
Spears’ record label decided to release the music in advance of the album in order to reduce piracy.
