A third of Brits believe it rains if cows lie down.

Legendary BBC weather presenter Michael Fish has revealed approximately 79% of British people believe in weather myths, with 31% of people surveyed saying they genuinely thought cows lying down mean it’s going to rain, although Michael insists the wacky idea is untrue.

The iconic weatherman – who is the Mountain Warehouse Consultant Meteorologist – explained: ”Cows lying down simply means they’re tired! I have however noticed seagulls often fly inland ahead of stormy weather. Perhaps they can detect the rapidly falling pressure.”
