Broken Social Scene Organises Toronto Island Concert

Toronto has asked their very own Broken Social Scene to fill the roster for the Toronto Island Festival.

The collective Canadian band, founded in Toronto in 1999, has been asked to put together a lineup of artists for the 2010 concert on Toronto Island.

Broken Social Scene has become a creative force, and includes anywhere from 6 to 19 members at any given moment, many of them carrying separate music careers in parallel. Singer Feist and Emily Haines of the band Metric have been known to take part in BSS affairs.

Currently, Broken Social Scene is working on a new album. Their 2003 disc You Forgot It In People was chosen as the 2nd best Canadian album of the past decade, only being surpassed by Arcade Fire’s album Funeral, which unanimously ranked as the best album of the decade internationally.

For the Toronto concert on June 19, Broken Social Scene is counting on Pavement and Band of Horses to take the stage.
