Bruce Springsteen in Mourning

Danny Federici, the keyboardist from the E Street Band who accompanied Bruce Springsteen, is dead.

Danny Federici, the keyboardist whose unique style was well-defined in the E Street Band, Bruce Springsteen’s band at the start of his career, died yesterday in New York at the age of 58. Federici was diagnosed with cancer three years ago.

The musician’s last appearance was on March 20 when he performed with "The Boss" in Indianapolis.

On Bruce Springsteen’s Internet site, he published the following comment, "Danny and I worked together for 40 years — he was the most wonderfully fluid keyboard player and a pure natural musician. I loved him very much … we grew up together."

Federici and Springsteen met up in the late 60s in New Jersey, when the keyboardist and Vini Lopez, drummer of E Street Band, asked the Boss to join their group.

Springsteen decided to postpone his concert in Florida tonight and one tomorrow in Orlando.
