Bruce Springsteen To Be Honoured at Kennedy Center

Bruce Springsteen will be performing for President Obama.

Each year, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. honours certain prestigious American artists for their contribution to American culture. The event, which has been held annually since 1978, still follows tradition with the attendance of the U.S. president and vice-president.

The ceremony will take place on December 6, and will air on CBS on December 29. Pop music will be highlighted with one of this year’s inductees, Bruce Springsteen.

Barack Obama is delighted by Springsteen’s nomination, since the artist was instrumental in stirring excitement for his 2008 presidential campaign.  The Boss performed several fundraiser shows for Obama, in addition to performing in states where votes between Democrats and Republicans are known to come extremely close.

Other popular figures to be commemorated at the Kennedy Center Honors Galacette are actors Robert de Niro and Mel Brooks, opera singer Grace Bumbry and jazz musician Dave Brubeck.
