Bush to launch first album in 10 years

Gavin Rossdale and band announce The Sea of Memories due out September 13.

Inactive for almost ten years, British alt rock band Bush was one of the most important alternative bands of the 1990s. They recently announced the upcoming release of their fifth studio album The Sea of Memories, their first since 2001’s Golden State, reports HitFix.

On hiatus between 2002 and 2010, the musicians returned to the studio under the helm of Canadian producer Bob Rock, best known for his work with Metallica.

The first single The Sound of Winter will debut on the late night TV talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 21.

"When making music, you have a choice to repeat what you’ve done or move on,” said frontman Gavin Rossdale in a statement. “It would’ve been safe to just rework [1994 debut album] ‘Sixteen Stone’ over and over, but what kind of life would that be?

“When you’re driving down the road, you’re focused on what’s in front of you; you don’t really think to keep checking in your rear view mirror. I like the idea of art changing, developing and morphing.”

Rossdale has kept busy over the last decade, marrying No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani in 2002, and raising two sons, Kingston, 5, and Zuma, 2.
