The star was arrested Saturday after performing at New York’s Amsterjam Festival. Rhymes is accused of assaulting a man who spit on his car.
A hearing has been set for October. Scott Leemon, an attorney for the rapper, feels that the police are trying to give Rhymes a difficult time because he hasn’t cooperated with them in another case. Last February, Israel Ramirez, one of the rapper’s bodyguards, was killed outside a recording studio where Rhymes was working. Rhymes has not spoken to police about the incident.
Busta Rhymes’ last album, The Big Bang, was released on June 13. The seventh solo recording for the rapper is topping the R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts.
