CAKE Takes Control

In addition to recently becoming their own recording label, the Californian band CAKE also made a significant change to how they record their music.

The Sacramento-based group is taking environmental issues seriously.  Their studio has been completely converted to use 100% solar energy.  Solar panels were installed on the roof, which allowed the band to remove the building from the city’s energy grid.  Additionally, any of the sun’s resources that aren’t used are sent back to the grid, allowing others to benefit from the undertaking.

Band member Vince DiFiore spoke to Be Interactive about their upcoming tour, and their response to the energy crisis.  "You know, we feel less anxious working in our studio knowing that everything is solar powered.  It’s great, and even the energy that we don’t use is going back into the grid, so we feel good about taking a step in the right direction."

CAKE opens their tour today (September 25) in Toronto, and will perform in Hamilton on Friday (September 26) and Montreal on Saturday (September 27), before heading back to the United States.   They will also be performing at the Live Music Benefit for Proposition H in San Francisco in support of the city’s Clean Energy Act.
