Calvin Klein launches Shock fragrance duo

Designer trades unisex approach for distinct his-and-hers scents.

Last week, American design house Calvin Klein hosted a special global launch celebration for its new fragrance duo, CK One Shock for him and her, at New York City hotspot GunBar, reports Basenotes.

This is the first time that the designer has created a non-unisex scent for the CK One line of fragrances. Musician Joe Jonas and actor Chace Crawford attended as special guests, joining cast members of the advertising campaign: singer-songwriter Sky Ferreira, British boxing champion Robert Evans, musician Ian Mellencamp, and model Herieth Paul.

Calvin Klein Collection also provided the wardrobe for Jonas and Crawford for the evening event, as well as the CK One Shock cast in attendance.

CK One Shock for her, packaged in a white bottle with a neon hot pink name, is described by the company as a "juicy, flavorful oriental that blends fierce florals with liquid chocolate and warms into a sexy skin musk.”

CK One Shock for him is packaged in a black bottle with the name in neon lime green. The scent is described as "an energetic oriental with smooth spice and a masculine tobacco musk.”

The racy print and TV ad campaign has a sexual, voyeuristic energy set in the theme of a nighttime dance party. The campaign was filmed during a one day shoot in New York City by renowned fashion photographer Steven Meisel, who also directed both the original campaign for the launch of the CK One fragrance in 1994 and the new CK One lifestyle campaign this year.
