Tonight, the NHL draft lottery finally took place. It was time to find out who would get the first pick in the next amateur auction, or in other words, who would get the chance to select Connor Bedard on June 28.
The Canadiens were in the thick of the race, with an 8.5% chance of winning. Only the Ducks (25.5%), Blue Jackets (13.5%), Blackhawks (11.5%) and Sharks (9.5%) had a better chance than the Montreal team.
In the end, however, logic prevailed for the Tricolore: Kent Hughes and his gang will be drafted fifth overall.
The Canadiens did NOT win the lottery.
He’ll speak at #5 next month in Nashville.
