Cannes Pays Tribute to Jacques Poitrenaud

The Cannes Film Festival will pay tribute this year to French director Jacques Poitrenaud.

In an announcement, the festival stated that 2005’s event will have a special event planned for the filmmaker who died last Tuesday at the age of 82.

To the organisers of the event, the director was "a faithful partner".  His most notable films were Les Portes Claquent, Les Parisiennes, and Le Canard en Fer-blanc in the 1960s.

The 58th Cannes Film Festival will be held May 11 through May 22.
