This summer, the CapFriendly site closed its doors.
The Washington Capitals bought the platform and its data to keep it private.
The news went viral on social networks, because the site was so popular and because it was useful for any fan/expert who wanted information on a particular player.
The platform is now non-existent, but the Blues have decided to innovate for their fans.
How did they do it?
The Blues have launched “BluesFriendly”, a new component of the team’s website that allows everyone to see the contractual situation of each of the club’s players.
The platform can also be found on the Blues’ mobile app:
CapFriendly may be gone… but BluesFriendly is here 📲
Get up-to-date info on player contract details, status and more at https://t.co/u4MPZD9irZ or in the Blues App! #stlblues

The Blues are being transparent, and that’s a really good idea.
At least, fans see it as a great initiative and they’re right.
All clubs should follow suit when you look at the positive comments under the Blues’ publication :
This is obviously good news for hockey fans. Especially for those who follow the Blues!
I hope from the bottom of my heart that the other NHL teams will do the same, because this data is important and everyone should have the opportunity to access it.
Until then, though, the PuckPedia site is also a great reference for league fans.
