F1: McLaren wins Piastri, what’s next for Alpine?

The stormy situation of the driver Oscar Piastri has finally been settled since his future contract has been deemed compliant, as announced by the FIA (International Automobile Federation).

The 21-year-old driver will sit in a McLaren seat for the 2023 and 2024 seasons!

https://twitter.com/McLarenF1/status/1565698471444844544?s=20&t=7BVuu48_gSF1n8K9NtQRZQ

The problem is that McLaren and Alpine claimed to have an agreement with the driver for next season…

So, the F1 contract recognition office has stuck its nose in there to decide, giving reason to McLaren.

At the moment, Piastri is a reserve driver for Alpine and was seen as a replacement for Fernando Alonso.

Note that he was trained at the Alpine Academy!

In the end, this signing creates a domino effect among the drivers, including Daniel Ricciardo, who could end up without a wheel next year.

In his defense, let’s not forget that he is the only driver in the last ten years to have won a Grand Prix with a McLaren!

The drivers’ waltz will be exciting in the next few weeks…

A Mickey Mantle card sold for 12.6M$

A Mickey Mantle card sold for $12.6 million recently, becoming the record for the amount paid to acquire a sports memorabilia item.

The 1952 Topps card surpassed Honus Wagner‘s T206, which went for $7.25 million earlier this month.

Mantle’s is just as valuable thanks to its current condition, according to Heritage’s director of sports auctions, Chris Ivy.

Via ESPN, Ivy said it is quite possibly the finest example of perfect condition of this iconic postwar card in the world. She’s squarely in a category of her own.

Recall that Mantle was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974 and died of liver cancer in 1995. He concluded his career with a total of 536 home runs in 18 seasons.

The right-handed golfer, currently ranked number 2 in the world, is making a good start at PGA Tour and joins the dissident circuit which attracts more and more big names.

Like the other golfers before him, Cameron Smith accepted a huge sum of money from the new circuit to leave the PGA Tour. He joins a growing contingent that includes Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka among others.

The loss of Cameron Smith to the PGA Tour is significant. The 29-year-old Australian has been on the rise. He has won three of his six tour events this year, including the most recent British Open and Players Championship.

Dennis Rodman wants to save Brittney Griner… but the White House doesn’t want to!

Controversial former Chicago Bulls star Dennis Rodman is planning to set foot in Russia as he has a desire to rescue basketball star Brittney Griner, according to Rolling Stone.

Griner is currently serving a nine-year prison sentence in Russia after being arrested for a drug-related charge in early August.

However, it seems that the United States and Russia are in talks about a possible prisoner exchange, but nothing has been concluded yet.

The former number 91 has received permission from Russia to go there, and then he plans to do so this week, but the problem… is that the White House would rather not!

The reason is simple, if Rodman gets involved, it could totally derail the negotiations between the two clans over the prisoner’s treaty.

Rumors point to a potential deal involving Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout in return for the incarcerated basketball player.

However, it was important for me to start my residency this summer with my cohort so I don’t fall behind (…),” he had added.

Who knows, maybe we’ll see him playing again soon!
