UFC: Paddy Pimblett delivered a powerful speech about suicide

Paddy Pimblett, a UFC fighter on the verge of stardom, gave a very emotional speech about suicide following his win over Jordan Leavitt in London.

Pimblett’s message was very poignant, as he explained that a fan, who had become a friend, had committed suicide just before the pre-fight weigh-in.

“There’s a stigma in this world that men can’t talk – listen, if you’re a man, and you’ve got weight on your shoulders … please speak to someone, speak to anyone. Please, let’s get rid of this stigma, and men – start talking.”

The 27-year-old fighter also dedicated his triumph to Baby Lee Hodgson, one of his fans who passed away from cancer.

Cody Rhodes takes home a big award at the ESPYs

Cody Rhodes, considered by many to be the modern day Hulk Hogan, took home a huge honor as he received the ESPY award for the best moment of the year. The ESPY gala is an annual ceremony that recognizes individual and team athletic achievements over the previous year.

Rhodes left the WWE for six years to work for, among others, its competitor AEW, but since WrestleMania 38 (April 2), he is officially back in the rings of the world’s biggest wrestling company.

Vince McMahon and his cronies brought Rhodes back, with millions of dollars and with good reason, to make him the headliner and main eventer for Monday Night Raw.

It’s a mission fully accomplished for the WWE as Rhodes is the most popular wrestler since Stone Cold Steve Austin, who brings the crowds to their feet as soon as his entrance piece starts playing.

However, Cody is in rehabilitation, having had to go under the knife last June to repair a torn tendon.

What is the future for Neymar Jr?

Neymar Jr is the type of individual that polarizes the entire planet.

That said, what about his future with Paris Saint-Germain(PSG), the team he’s been lining up with since 2017?

If his future is in doubt with this grandiose organization, it’s because of his lifestyle, which the new PSG management doesn’t seem to appreciate too much.

In short, Christophe Galtier and Luis Campos, who are now at the helm of PSG‘s sports management, want nothing to do with flashy, bling and glitter. Isn’t that the perfect description of Neymar?

With Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi in the saddle, “Ney” is no longer on the list of must-haves, and is coming off a very disappointing season. On the other hand, his astronomical salary of 4 million euros each month puts a brake on 90% of buyers… so PSG decision makers will most likely have to resign themselves and keep the 30 year old star, who lives a very radiant life, let’s put it that way!

The Canadiens’ front office spent the evening with Shane Wright!

The Montreal Canadiens staff spent their last night before the 2022 NHL draft with presumptive first overall pick Shane Wright.

With the NHL draft just hours away at the Bell Centre in Montreal tonight (July 7), Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes, executive vice-president of field hockey operations Jeff Gorton and even team owner Geoff Molson were gathered at Moretti Griffintown restaurant.

BuzzNews

The group of CH decision-makers spent this final night before making the first-ever amateur auction selection at the restaurant with the No. 1 ranked player on the NHL roster, Kingston Frontenacs center Shane Wright.

BuzzNews

These meetings may not be insignificant with the draft just hours away, as three prospects are being tipped to be the very first selection of the auction. According to several sources, Shane Wright, Juraj Slafkovsky and Logan Cooley are the three favorite players to be drafted at the very top of the 2022 draft.

In addition to the Montreal Canadiens, the Moretti Griffintown restaurant was a popular meeting place last night. We saw former Habs GM Marc Bergevin, now a member of the Los Angeles Kings’ senior management team. He was there with Luc Robitaille, president of the Californian club. The Los Angeles Kings have the 19th pick in the first round.

BuzzNews

Another familiar face seen last night was former Colorado Avalanche player Adam Foote, who is now a member of the player representation firm KO Sports. This firm represents Shane Wright and Montreal Canadiens forward Christian Dvorak , whose name has come up frequently in recent hours in trade rumors.

While the Canadiens’ GM Kent Hughes is still keeping a lid on the very first selection of tonight’s draft, the stars seem to be aligned for center Shane Wright to be the first one called up to the stage at the Bell Centre.

Philadelphia Flyers’ Russian prospect sent to military base

Russian goalie Ivan Fedotov was allegedly taken by force to a military base in the north of the country when he was supposed to arrive in America to join the Philadelphia Flyers.

Ivan Fedotov, considered the best goalie in the world not to play in the National Hockey League (NHL), cannot leave his country, Russia.

The 25-year-old was reportedly caught by law enforcement outside a St. Petersburg arena. The Fontaka website reports that he is suspected of wanting to escape the mandatory military service for all men in Russia. He is reportedly currently at the Severodvinsk military base on Russia’s northern coast.

“We have a mobilization policy that respects the laws,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in the last hours when asked about Fedotov’s situation.

Russia planned to conscript 130,000 men for a year of military service this spring. Russians can be conscripted between the ages of 18 and 27.

Ivan Fedotov won the silver medal with Russia at the Beijing Olympics in February and led CSKA Moscow to the Gagarin Cup in the KHL.

With the NHL draft just hours away, some teams may question the wisdom of selecting a Russian player following this incident.

Quebec cyclist Guillaume Boivin is still waiting to get his bikes back while he is participating in the Tour de France.

Like many Canadian travelers, Guillaume Boivin is currently experiencing a nightmare with his luggage. The professional cyclist registered in the world’s most prestigious bicycle race is still waiting for his lost racing bikes to be found.

The cyclist flew to Europe on an Air Canada flight in the days leading up to the event, which runs until July 24. Across the country, horror stories are popping up on social media of travelers who have had their flights cancelled or their luggage lost.

And as the Tour de France cyclists move from day to day to tour the Hexagon, it is likely that Guillaume Boivin will not see the color of his bikes before the arrival in Paris on the Champs-Élysée.

At the end of yesterday’s stage 3 (July 3), Boivin was 123rd overall, 39 minutes behind the leader and yellow jersey holder, Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen.

Tomorrow (July 5), the peloton will make its first turns in France for the fourth stage of the Tour. The 171.5km stage will run from Dunkirk to Calais in the north of the country.

Lewis Hamilton victim of racism

Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton reacted today to racist remarks made about him by former driver Nelson Piquet.

This whole story goes back to November 2021. The former Brazilian F1 driver Nelson Piquet gave a video interview to Motorsports.com. Piquet commented on Max Verstappen ‘s performance at the expense of Hamilton at the British Grand Prix.

“The little black guy put his car in and left it because there was no way for him to overtake two cars in that corner,” said the former F1 world champion in 1981, 1983 and 1987.

Today, Lewis Hamilton has come back on these inappropriate remarks.

“It’s more than language. These archaic mindsets need to change and have no place in our sport. I’ve been surrounded by these attitudes and targeted my whole life. There has been plenty of time to learn. Time has come for action,” the seven-time world champion commented today on Twitter.

Nelson Piquet ‘s comments were condemned by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and Formula 1, the organizer of the F1 World Championship.

Lewis Hamilton has been the instigator of an anti-racism movement in F1 for several seasons. Several other drivers have supported the Englishman in his quest for equality and inclusion.

Last year, Queen Elizabeth II knighted the racer with the title of Knight of the British Order for his role in fighting racism.

Now retired, Tom Brady pays tribute to Rob Gronkowski

Rob Gronkowski announced his second retirement in the last few hours. His longtime teammate Tom Brady saluted his “brother.”

Number 87, perhaps the greatest tight end in NFL history, announced he was ending his career after 11 seasons with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tom Brady, with whom he had so much success, expressed his gratitude on social media.

Teammate, friend, brother, just a few of the words that come to mind when I think of @gronk. Nobody has ever embodied the idea of “leaving it all out on the field” like Rob has throughout his entire career. Every single snap, I knew that no matter how many people you put in front of him, he was going to get to his spot,” recalls the great quarterback.

Rob Gronkowski had already retired for the first time in April 2020. WhenTom Brady chose to continue his career in Tampa Bay, Gronk returned to the game with his former teammate. The two superstars went on to lead the Buccaneers to Super Bowl LV a few months later.

Even more important is the person he was off the field. Focused when he had to be, and FUN the rest of the time. Having Gronk in your locker room was every NFL players dream. I’m proud of all that we’ve accomplished together, and even more excited for all you have ahead of you. Congrats Gronk, you deserve it,” continued the seven-time Super Bowl winner.
