It’s a go for the Montreal Marathon!

Today is the start of the Beneva Montreal Marathon!

Let’s put on our running shoes, grab our water bottle and let’s go! There are courses for everyone, from 1 km to 42 km!

The important thing is to participate. As Alexandra, one of the ambassadors of the event, says so well:

When I participate in a race, I get passed, but I also surpass myself, that’s all that matters.”

Montreal Beneva Marathon

Athlete Charles Philibert-Thiboutot shares the role of spokesperson with Alexandra.

For Charles, running is a job, but he is impressed by people who run despite having no time:

People who, despite a demanding job, family obligations, despite lack of resources, manage to train and run 5 km, 10 km, 21.1 km or even 42.2 km in the Montreal Beneva Marathon. I run twice a day, my days are totally dedicated to training, recovery and rehabilitation.

Here are the different courses on Saturday, September 24.

You can choose between a 1 km, 5 km or 10 km course.

Baby: Independent or traditional feeding?

Parents of young babies often wonder about feeding their babies: “How do I do it? How do I start? Pureed or chunky?

Here are some things to think about.

First, let’s define the two types of food diversification. There is the traditional method, which consists of offering purees to the child first. Then there is child-led diversification (CDD). In this method, parents will offer large pieces directly to the child, who will eat like the rest of the family.

At the moment, DME is a very popular method. However, not all parents are comfortable with this method since it can be scary. From our side, we do not believe that one method is better than another. Only two things are important: Is your child fed? Is the meal stress-free for the whole family? That’s it! From there, make your choice based on what is best for you, your child and your family! Every family is unique! For you, it could be a mixed method that combines a little of both methods and that’s fine!

If you choose DME, the biggest advantage is the simplicity! No need to make several meals, baby will eat like everyone else. However, one disadvantage can be the fear of choking the baby. There are a few things to learn to avoid the risk of choking. For example, the importance of cutting food according to the child’s abilities.

If you opt for traditional or mixed feeding diversification instead, there are also advantages! It can take some of the stress off of you. Besides, you don’t necessarily have to make multiple meals since it’s possible to puree the family meal using a blender.

Why do we love going apple picking so much?

The pandemic created a new tradition, that of picking different fruits and vegetables, depending on the season. These activities may seem trivial, but they bring us back to the essential, communion with nature.

Here’s why we’ll keep going, even if the pandemic ends!

Maria Lindsey / Pexels

Because it’s delicious. Indeed, nothing tastes as good as freshly picked fruits and vegetables.

Zen Chun / Pexels

Because our kids learn so much through this activity, where food comes from, respect for nature… and motor skills… the learning in nature is endless!

Grape Things / Pexels

Because it allows us to connect with nature. The fresh air, the landscapes, the plants, all the elements are gathered for a connection with our environment. This moment of connection allows us to live fully in the present moment and forget the sources of stress, the time of a breath.

Hilal Bulbul / Pexels

Because then we can cook as a family!

Cooking is also a wonderful family activity that allows us to strengthen our family ties, learn and have fun! All while creating a bit of a mess, of course!

Because by picking these foods themselves, our kids are motivated to taste and eat them!

It’s magical, we don’t even have to hide the fruits and vegetables in soups!

Will you be going to the pumpkins this fall?

Tiffany &Co. starts creating NFT jewelry

Will it become the next trendy accessory?

Big news in the world of jewelry and fashion: the renowned company Tiffany & Co. has announced that it will start creating NFT (non-fungible token) jewelry, and it makes you wonder if this will become the next hot accessory of the day.

However, this accessory comes with an exorbitant price tag of $50,000! In fact, in order to get the pendant, you’ll have to fork out 30 ETH in CryptoPunk currency, which is equivalent to about $50,000 USD.

Of course, the Tiffany & Co. brand is known for its expensive jewelry, and we’ll have to see if there is really a demand on the market for this kind of product. Not everyone will be able to get their hands on this jewelry, as only 250 pendants will be created by Tiffany & Co. artisans.

For this price, buyers will get a physical pendant as well as a digital copy. The pendants will have a design reminiscent of the 87 features and 159 colors that appear in non-fungible CryptoPunk tokens.

The response from customers on Twitter has been mixed. Some people are happy to see the use of non-fungible tokens by a reputable company, while others are openly critical of the pendant design.

Should we expect more announcements like this in the future? We’ll see!

Students present a carbon-neutral car

Dutch student “engineers” have unveiled the design of the world’s first ever carbon neutral car. It is designed to remove and store carbon dioxide from the air as it struts down the road.

The first name of this electric car is “Zem“, and it was created by the TU/ecomotive team of the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands.

If we summarize, a grid is installed at the front of the vehicle and it is from this place that the air flows, and then passes through a filter that separates and stores the greenhouse gas.

The prototype also has solar panels on the roof and hood, allowing it to be used as an external battery for its home.

The team noted that about two kilograms of carbon dioxide could be eliminated for every 12,800 miles, or 20,600 kilometers, because of its direct air capture technology.

For now, we’re a long way from seeing that in the marketplace, but in a way, we’re challenging manufacturers to work on such an environmentally friendly transfer as well.

One of them, Polestar, promised last year to create a carbon-neutral car by 2030.

A flying car could be put on the market

Samson Sky ‘s Switchblade has been in production for 14 years and could now undergo another round of testing.

On July 15th, the Federal Aviation Administration revealed that the vehicle is built in Oregon and will soon undergo new tests. If all is successful, the flying car could be put on the market within a few weeks.

This Ferrari red car offers all the amenities of a luxury car, including a hybrid electric drive system. When it’s time to land, the wings unfold on the sides.

For the curious, the car can accommodate two passengers. It can fly at an altitude of 16,000 feet and has a cruising speed of 258 kilometers. As far as insurance is concerned, the flying car has not been created yet.

Obviously, the flying car will not be sold on the standard car market, but rather on the “luxury” side at a cost of $170,000.

Samson Sky ‘s Switchblade is trying to catch up with the AirCar, which already has a few successful tests. Other manufacturers are also in the running. Cadillac unveiled its own airplane car at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the past.

Another automaker, Porsche, has partnered in 2019 with aircraft manufacturer Boeing to launch its own prototype.
