A mysterious respiratory disease that strikes dogs worries authorities

Veterinarians and pet lovers are on the alert after the appearance of a mysterious respiratory disease that is currently affecting dogs, especially in the United States. In some cases, the disease can progress rapidly, with serious illness occurring within 24 to 36 hours.

This disease is a cause for concern, as it does not respond to antibacterial drugs. Symptoms of this canine disease include persistent coughing, runny eyelids, sneezing, loss of appetite and lethargy.

Numerous cases have been reported in Colorado, Rhode Island, Oregon, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The strange disease has experts worried, as tests for known viruses, bacteria and fungi have all proved negative. In tests carried out in New Hampshire, they discovered a previously unidentified pathogenic bacterium that could be the cause of the disease. The bacterium is smaller than the usual bacteria and has a small genome, as well as being difficult to detect and sequence.

A small number of dogs have unfortunately succumbed to the disease, so pet owners are urged to be vigilant, avoid dog parks and areas heavily frequented by dogs, and contact their vet if their dog develops respiratory symptoms, New York Times reports.

Infantile respiratory diseases on the rise in China

The World Health Organization has contacted the Chinese authorities to gather more information on the recent increase in respiratory illnesses affecting children, as reported by the Washington Post and the Associated Press.

This situation has raised concern in the international community. The WHO’s action follows reports of an increase in respiratory illnesses and pneumonia among children.

In response to these health concerns, the WHO has asked the Chinese authorities to provide additional clinical and epidemiological data to better understand the situation. WHO reports that the number of cases of influenza-like illness in northern China is abnormally high compared to previous years.

The WHO has also encouraged Chinese citizens to take preventive measures, such as the use of masks and hand washing, to reduce the spread of the disease.

While the WHO continues to monitor the situation, the international community will continue to follow it closely, awaiting full data from the Chinese health authorities and seeking to remain informed of any changes that could affect global health.

Shots fired by agents protecting Joe Biden’s granddaughter

In an unexpected turn of events last Sunday evening, Secret Service agents protecting President Joe Biden’s granddaughter, Naomi Biden, drew their firearms after spotting an attempted break-in in an unmarked Secret Service car. The incident took place in Georgetown, Washington D.C.’s upscale neighborhood, ABC News reports.

When Secret Service agents assigned to Naomi Biden noticed three people attempting to break the SUV’s windows, they immediately reacted, while one of them used his service weapon.

The Secret Service claims that the agent involved in the incident was not injured, and that he fired after witnessing the attempted break-in. Fortunately, the vehicle was not occupied at the time. They immediately launched an alert in an area to locate the red car in which the alleged culprits fled.

In a press release, the Secret Service stated that no one was hurt and that the incident occurred just before midnight.

The Secret Service assured the public that there were no threats to Naomi Biden’s protection at the time of the incident.

The Metropolitan Police Department is now investigating the case. This is standard practice for any police-involved shooting in Washington. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is also independently reviewing the evidence and facts in this case.

This crime is part of a larger increase in crimes involving cars in the District.

Washington reported more than 750 car thefts and over 6,500 stolen cars this year.

As the investigation is still ongoing, no details have been released as to the identity of the suspects or the motive behind the attempted break-in.

An investigation has been launched after a vehicle exploded near the famous Rainbow Bridge, a vital link between Canada and the USA, and it has been learned that the two people in the vehicle involved in this mysterious incident are believed to have died.

Suspect wanted in the murder of kingpin Gregory Woolley

Gregory Woolley, an influential figure in organized crime in Québec, was fatally shot in the parking lot of a shopping mall on Boulevard du Séminaire in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

The 51-year-old succumbed to his injuries despite being rushed to hospital.

This was confirmed by the Sûreté du Québec, which took charge of the investigation.

Woolley’s child and girlfriend were both present at the time of the shooting, but were not the intended targets. Gregory Woolley, a notorious criminal figure, was an associate of the Hells Angels, known as the godfather of Montreal street gangs and a man capable of mediating between various criminal groups.

The SQ is still investigating the murder.

They are currently looking for the black SUV that witnesses saw speeding away from the crime scene, but also for a suspect.

Images provided by the Journal de Montréal show at least one hooded man dressed in black speeding away from the crime scene, who would currently be a person of interest, i.e. a suspect wanted by police.

The SQ is asking the public to contact them if they have any details concerning the event or, more specifically, the suspect.

Single-use plastics ban cancelled, a setback for Trudeau

A decree banning the use of certain single-use plastic objects in Canada has been invalidated by the Federal Court.

The Trudeau government had adopted the regulation in June 2022, classifying all single-use plastics as toxic substances.

However, Judge Angela Furlanetto ruled that the government had interpreted the definition of toxic substance too broadly, not relying on sufficient evidence, CTV News reports.

As a result, the Federal Court overturned the decree, making the six categories of objects previously banned legal once again.

Provincial and municipal regulations may continue to apply.

This decision is yet another environmental setback for the Trudeau government.

Carols Sainz breaks the Netflix Cup trophy!

A rather unusual moment occurred when Carlos Sainz celebrated his team’s victory at a golf competition organized by Netflix, on the sidelines of the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, and featuring Formula 1 stars and PGA Tour players representing Netflix’s sports documentaries Drive to Survive and Full Swing, while Sainz smashed the trophy awarded to the victorious team!

The competition took place at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas last Tuesday, and it was the first ever Netflix Cup where Formula 1 stars and PGA Tour players represented Netflix’s popular sports documentaries Drive to Survive and Full Swing.

While officially celebrating his victory, along with professional golfer Justin Thomas, Sainz dropped the Netflix Cup in a rather amusing and unfortunate accident, especially when it broke into several pieces.

Needless to say, the incident quickly made the rounds on social networks, and the video shared by ESPN had received over two million views at the time of writing!

Nevertheless, the driver seemed very happy with his day.

Truth Social suffers a $73M loss and faces an uncertain future

Truth Social, former President Donald Trump’s venture into the competitive social media landscape, continues to face financial difficulties, and, according to several reports, the platform’s losses have amounted to $73 million in just one year since its launch in early 2022.

This raises questions about its viability, Reuters reports.

The financial difficulties facing Truth Social are revealed in financial reports recently published by Digital World Acquisition Corp. According to this information, the platform achieved net sales of $1.4 million in its first year, but only $2.3 million in the first six months of 2023. The platform also suffered a loss of $50 million in 2022 and a loss of $23 million in the first half of 2023.

These figures certainly cast a shadow over the financial stability of Trump Media & Technology Group, Truth Social’s parent company.

Indeed, questions have been raised about Trump Media & Technology Group’s future as a company.

In these circumstances, the disclosure of former Congressman Devin Nunes’ salary as CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group also shocked many… he reportedly received $750,000 in 2022!

The Special Purpose Acquisition Compagny merger was originally scheduled for completion in 2021. However, delays, legal complications and doubts on the part of several investors have marred the process ever since.

These financial disclosures add a hint of concern that Trump Media & Technology Group could face difficulties if it does not make significant progress in completing its merger with Digital World Acquisition Corp.

Trump estimated the value of Trump Media & Technology Group at between $5 million and $25 million when he reported it to the Federal Election Commission earlier this year. This is a dramatic drop from the $875 million valuation achieved when Special Purpose Acquisition Compagny and Digital World Acquisition Corp. merged.

Digital World Acquisition Corp. recently revealed that it had lost a planned investment of $191.5 million!

Digital World Acquisition Corp. also revealed the need to correct financial statements up to 2022, as these were no longer reliable due to an error in accounting for certain expenses. The company’s shares plummeted as the merger proposal dragged on, as evidenced by the drop in market capitalization from nearly $4 billion to $545 million in March 2022.

In addition to all these financial problems, Trump Media & Technology Group’s success is said to be directly linked to the public’s perception of Trump. Trump Media & Technology Group acknowledged that its future could be threatened if Trump’s popularity or reputation declined, in addition to the potential negative effects of Trump’s ongoing lawsuits.

A Jack Russell stayed by his dead owner’s side for weeks

Rich Moore, 71, of Pagosa Springs, and his dog Finney hiked to the summit of Blackhead Peak (12,500 ft.) on August 19, but never returned home. The search for them was intensive, and teams spent nearly 2,000 man-hours scouring the wilderness, without success until a rather surprising recent discovery two months after their disappearance!

On October 30, a hunter found Moore’s body two and a half miles from the top of the mountain, in the Lower Blanco Drainage Basin with Finney, the Jack Russell, still alive but weakened, who had survived the harsh weather conditions, at his side.

According to Delinda Vann-Brightyn of the Taos Search and Rescue team, retrieving Moore and Finney was not easy due to the difficult terrain. A helicopter was used to drop the search team off on the steep terrain. Moore’s faithful dog accompanied him as he left the mountain.

After her rescue, Finney was taken to a veterinary hospital for treatment and examination, and was eventually reunited with her family. This surely brought them some comfort in the midst of their tragic loss.

Finney quickly won the hearts of many Internet users thanks to her courage and loyalty to her master. This moving story touched the hearts of pet lovers and wilderness enthusiasts alike, drawing attention to the deep bond between animal and master. It also reminds us of the dangers inherent in exploring nature.

Colorado Missing Person Organization

Although the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office and other investigating authorities have yet to determine the cause of Moore’s death, it is unlikely that foul play was involved. The incident has sparked debate about mountain safety and preparedness, as reports suggest that Moore was not sufficiently prepared when he arrived at his destination.
