“Everybody, this is Kai; Kai, this is everybody,” singer Eddie Vedder said by way of introduction. “You’re leading the band, brother,” the rock legend continued.

To get noticed by the four-time Grammy-winning band, KaiNeukermans sent a text message toEddie Vedder’s daughter, Olivia Vedder, whom he had previously met in 2018.

“It was a last-minute thing, and I didn’t think it was going to work,” the main man explained to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The members of Pearl Jam asked the young man for a video of him playing the drums on one of their songs, which he did. However, the young drummer had to skip school to do so. He sent a video of Mind Your Mannersfrom the band’s 2013 album Lightning Bolt (2013) of the band.

An hour later, the band’s tour manager asked him to come to the stadium for a quick tryout.

Although the band had already asked Oakland drummer Richard Stuverud to fill in for Cameron, they agreed to let KaiNeukermans fulfill his dream for a song.

McDonald’s leaves Russia for good

McDonald ‘s has just announced its intention to leave Russia for good . More than 30 years after the opening of the first restaurant of the chain, the brand puts its 850 points of sale up for sale.

Since last March, McDonald’srestaurants in Russia had closed their doors following the military invasion of Russia in Ukraine.

The fast food giant said it made the decision because of the “humanitarian crisis” and “unpredictable operating environment” caused by the war.

The first McDonald ‘s restaurant in Russia opened in Moscow in 1990 paving the way for other Western brands to enter the USSR. A year later, the Soviet Union collapsed and Russia opened its economy to Western companies.

More than three decades later, many Western banners have left Russia in the wake of economic sanctions put in place by the West against Vladimir Putin’s regime.

“This is a complex, unprecedented issue with far-reaching consequences,” McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said in a message to staff and suppliers.

“It is impossible to ignore the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. And it’s impossible to imagine that the Golden Arches represent the same hope and promise that drove us into the Russian market 32 years ago.”

Last year, Russia and Ukraine accounted for about 9 percent of McDonald‘s global sales. The chain’s 108 restaurants in Ukraine remain closed due to the conflict, but the company continues to pay full salaries to all employees there.

Hundreds of international brands, including Starbucks, Coca Cola, Levi’s and Apple, have left or suspended sales in Russia since the invasion of Ukraine in February. Russia has threatened to nationalize Western companies that leave the country.

The first company to have its operations taken over by the Russian state was French carmaker Renault. Moscow declared Renault’s Russian assets to be state property.

An intruder spends the night at Windsor Castle!

A man disguised as a priest broke into Windsor Castle, the favorite residence of Queen Elizabeth II, and spent the night there.

On April 26, a disguised intruder managed to outwit royal security for many hours. He finally left the premises only a few hours before Queen Elizabeth II returned home.

According to British TV channelTalkTV, the fake priestwent tothe castle’s officers’ mess where he took the opportunity to have a drink.

“He said his name was Father Cruise and pretended to be a friend of the battalion chaplain, Reverend Matt Coles. He was invited in and offered something to eat in the officers’ mess,” a source told Britain’s TalkTV.

After a few hours of the unscheduled visit, the man was “drinking with officers at the bar” and began telling stories about his life, including that he had served in Iraq.

“He told a lot of tall tales, and the guys enjoyed his jokes and had a few drinks,” the source said. “It wasn’t until later, when he started telling stories about working as an ejection seat test pilot and having certain organs replaced, that the guys started to get suspicious.”

Authorities were not alerted until the next morning. Just three hours before Queen Elizabeth returned to Windsor Castle after celebrating her 96th birthday at her Sandringham estate.

“We received a report of a break-in at Victoria Barracks in Sheet Street, Windsor, at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27,” confirmed a Thames Valley Police spokesperson. “Officers responded to the scene and removed the intruder from the barracks. No further action was necessary.”

Unsurprisingly, Buckingham Palace is currently investigating the incident, with guards being interviewed and surveillance footage being analyzed.

This is not the first time an intruder has broken into the Queen’s home. On Christmas morning 2021, a man carrying a crossbow entered Windsor Castle, but was quickly arrested. He allegedly used a rope ladder to climb a metal fence and enter the gardens where the queen was staying with her family at the time.

South Korea unveils the world’s first floating city

South Korea and the United Nations have presented the prototype of a floating and sustainable version of a city that looks like a maritime platform.

Last November, the developer of the project, which will be built near the port city of Busan in South Korea, unveiled the outline of the project.

The UN is also interested in the idea, as it sees the city as a way to mitigate the effects of rising sea levels caused by climate change. Since 1880, average sea levels around the world have risen by 20 to 30 cm.

In late February, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released an alarming report that states that “sea level rise poses an existential threat to some small islands and low-lying coastlines.”

The world’s first floating city will be built opposite the port city of Busan. The prototype consists of interconnected platforms totaling 15.5 acres.

Each modular piece of the city is designed for a specific purpose, such as living space, research facilities or housing. Bridges connect the different platforms.

Initially, officials envision a community of 12,000 people with the ability to expand the city to accommodate more than 100,000 people. The floating city will be self-sufficient, with solar panels and treated and recycled water.
