Hamilton backs Wolff against the FIA

Sir Lewis Hamilton was quick to point the finger and accuse the FIA of “a real lack of responsibility” in supporting Toto’s wife Susie Wolff’s decision to lodge a complaint against the FIA.

Madame Wolff freshly reported that she had filed a complaint with the French courts after the FIA opened and abandoned an investigation in December 2023 “into an alleged breach of confidentiality”.

The investigation was prompted by an article in Business F1 magazine, which claimed that Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff benefited from information shared by his wife, who is the managing director of the all-women F1 Academy series.

Toto and Mercedes very firmly denied the allegations against them, while the other nine Formula 1 teams denied providing complaints, leading the FIA to drop this investigation.

Trump unable to raise $464M for his appeal

Former President Donald Trump’s legal team is struggling to find a surety to cover a US$464 million fine imposed during his civil fraud trial.

The 30 underwriters contacted to guarantee the bond, due by the end of the month, have refused to advance the required amount.

As a result, Trump’s lawyers told the court that they were unable to secure the bond needed to allow Trump to appeal, despite their best efforts. In an affidavit, Gary Giulietti, Trump’s insurance broker, said that the amount of bail required was almost impossible to obtain. Alan Garten, the Trump Organization’s general counsel, also confirmed these difficulties, calling them insurmountable.

Trump is now struggling with the conditions imposed by the underwriters, and they are insisting that the collateral be in cash rather than real estate, which the Trump Organization finds very worrying. Trump’s real estate cannot be used in this case, further complicating the situation. The ex-president’s lawyers have argued that there is only one option: the forced sale of the real estate, which would result in massive, irrecoverable losses.

The case was initiated by New York Attorney General Letitia Jim and tried by Judge Arthur Engoron, who added interest to the amount. The ruling declared Donald Trump, Donald Jr. and Eric liable for exaggerating Donald Trump’s assets to obtain better loans and insurance for ten years.

A major insurance company that had previously provided more than $90 million in bail for another lawsuit involving Trump, the one in which he sued E. Jean Carroll for defamation, also cannot accept real estate as collateral for bail.

The ex-president’s lawyers are asking an appeals court to reduce the bail amount. The Trump Organization says selling the assets would have an immediate financial impact and cause irreparable damage.

The New York Attorney General’s office opposes the request to reduce bail out of concern that Trump or his co-defendants might try to avoid trial and complicate law enforcement.

UFC legend saves parents from fire, then risks his life to save his dog

Mark Coleman, a former UFC star, was visiting his parents in the house where he grew up when he was suddenly awakened in the night by his Rottweiler Hammer, who smelled smoke. Coleman’s daughter (Morgan) said that a fire had started at around 4 a.m., and Coleman was quick to take action.

Coleman wasted no time in getting out of bed, and immediately headed for his parents’ bedroom to bring them to safety. Mom and Dad are safe and sound, thanks to Coleman’s prowess.

Coleman then immediately went back inside to retrieve Hammer, who hadn’t come out of the burning house. The UFC legend certainly acted like a hero, risking his life to save Hammer from the flames… a mission that ultimately failed and landed Coleman in a hospital bed.

Coleman, 59, found himself hospitalized in Ohio, fighting for his life due to severe injuries sustained during the fire… which ravaged the entire house. At one point in the coma, his daughter made it clear that her father needed 24-hour care, indicating the seriousness of the situation.

In the case of his dog Hammer, he did not survive, being swept away by the violent flames.

Important fact: Mark’s daughter is raising funds for all the expenses involved in caring for someone in the United States through a GoFundMe. The goal is to reach $50,000.

Good news at least, Mark has woken up and is responding well to tests.

Squid Game star guilty of sexual misconduct

O Yeong-su, known for his role in the hit Netflix series Squid Game, has been found guilty of inappropriate sexual behavior.

This decision by a South Korean court marks a major turning point in his career, as the actor will be absent from Squid Game’s soon-to-be-revealed second season.

In addition to his conviction by the Suwon District Court in Seongnam, the actor was given an eight-month prison sentence with two years’ probation. In addition, he is also required by the court to undergo 40 hours of treatment.

The judge made his decision based on the woman’s testimony, as well as her diary and the therapist’s reports after the incident. The judge noted that these accounts seemed credible and would have been difficult to invent had the actor and victim not actually experienced them.

Netflix

The actor maintains that he is innocent even though the court found him guilty, and claims that his actions were misunderstood. O Yeong-su said he plans to appeal the sentence.

Squid Game season 2 is expected to air sometime in 2024 on Netflix, without O Yeong-su.
