Neve Campbell returns for Scream 7!

Neve Campbell, famous for her iconic role as Sidney Prescott in Scream, returns to the horror franchise after leaving the saga due to salary disagreements. Fans who have followed her character since the original 1996 film are delighted at her return, coming after several changes to the franchise in recent months!

Campbell shared the news on Instagram, expressing her excitement at reprising the role of Sidney Prescott, signaling the end of the disagreements that had kept her away from the franchise. Campbell, who testifies to a deep admiration and passion for the character and story of Scream, said she was very happy and proud that the showrunners had respectfully invited her to bring Sidney back to the screen, which really thrilled her.

In the seventh film in the Scream series, there will be a major change in the creative team. Kevin Williamson will take the director’s chair for the very first time. He wrote the screenplay for all three films in the original series and is, for all intents and purposes, the designer of the entire Scream universe and its cult characters.

The collaboration between Williamson and Campbell suggests a possible return to the roots of the franchise, which has been rocked by the departures of two new stars who had brought new life to it: Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega.

Paramount Pictures

It’s worth noting that Melissa Barrera’s departure from the franchise caused controversy, and Jenna Ortega decided to leave shortly after Barrera due to scheduling conflicts linked to her commitment to Wednesday at Netflix. A decision that fit well in terms of timing… while the Barrera controversy was in full swing, let’s face it.

Outraged, Lady Gaga comes to Dylan Mulvaney’s defense

Lady Gaga, a staunch defender of trans people, has highlighted and denounced the hateful attacks directed at Dylan Mulvaney.

These negative reactions emerged after Gaga and Mulvaney shared a joint publication celebrating International Women’s Day, triggering controversy and an avalanche of hate messages towards Dylan Mulvaney.

Mulvaney received a flood of hate messages after sharing a video on social networks. In the video, the two artists expressed their joy at the event, and the resulting reactions drew the ire of Lady Gaga.

The singer stated categorically that the messages written were hatred and not negative reactions as, according to her, reported by a media outlet, which she accuses of downplaying the situation.

Gaga, followed by more than 56 million followers on Instagram, thus highlighted the discrimination and intolerance faced by transgender people. Gaga continued her plea by urging everyone to adopt a stance of acceptance, warmth and understanding towards the transgender community.

Dylan Mulvaney had been the victim of a strong transphobic reaction the first time around by many Americans following a Bud Light marketing campaign for March Madness. Bud Light, previously targeted by the Republican right, including the MAGA movement, last year, recorded a 17.3% drop in sales in Q4 2023 due to its decision to choose Mulvaney in its advertising campaign.

The United States was preparing for a nuclear war in Ukraine

CNN has revealed details of US preparations for a possible nuclear war in 2022, as tensions between Russia and Ukraine reached a climax, causing concern in Eastern Europe.

Biden administration officials were deeply concerned about the possibility of Russia using a tactical nuclear weapon against Ukraine. Preventive measures were quickly put in place in response to worrying intelligence, with the fear that Russia would regard the loss of territory, including Kherson, as an existential crisis. Had this proved to be the case, it would have marked the first nuclear strike since the Second World War, when Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed.

Sensitive intelligence gathering by the US and its allies, combined with Ukraine’s advance into Russian-occupied territory in Kherson in late summer 2022, raised concerns. There were fears that Russia would perceive this loss as a threat to its territorial integrity, especially after Putin’s statements that Kherson was part of Russia. There were also fears of an escalation in the use of nuclear weapons.

The Biden administration did not base its assessment solely on hypothetical scenarios, but on concrete information pointing to an increased level of risk. In particular, a false story propagated by the Kremlin about a dirty bomb in Ukraine reportedly raised fears that Russia might use the story as a pretext to launch a nuclear strike against the country it was seeking to invade.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley contacted their Russian counterparts directly to express U.S. concerns.

The U.S. National Security Council held a series of meetings between late summer and fall 2022.

The purpose of these meetings was to devise contingency plans to prevent, deter or respond to indications of imminent nuclear strikes by Russia.

U.S. officials said they had never observed any attempts by Russia to mobilize nuclear forces, because of the difficulty for the U.S. government to detect such mobilization.
