The Office is no longer the most streamed show

Suits broke records in 2023 and became the most streamed TV show, beating out a true phenomenon, namely The Office.

Suits, which first aired from 2011 to 2019 on USA Network, overtook previous record-holder The Office, which reached 57.1 billion streaming minutes in 2020.

The legal series starring, among others, a certain Meghan Markle, in fact recorded no less than 57.7 billion minutes of streaming in 2023!

The success of the series can be explained by the massive growth it experienced following its first broadcast on Netflix in July.

USA Network Media

In fact, Netflix reported in January 2023 that licensed content now accounted for 45% of its audience, a testament to the enduring appeal of franchises like Suits.

USA Network Media

The Suits effect, as some are calling it, is a phenomenon that not only sparks debate about evolving content strategy tactics, but also sets the bar high for measuring the impact of licensed shows in the highly competitive streaming market.

This dominance may indicate that the appetite for familiar, binge-worthy content is stronger than ever in the digital age.

Let’s bet, however, that this news will annoy the most loyal fans of The Office!

Other members of the royal family have also experienced medical problems in recent months. King Charles III underwent an additional medical procedure at the same hospital for treatment of an enlarged prostate. First human implanted by Neuralink, says Elon Musk

Neuralink has announced that it has implanted one of its products in a human patient for the first time, NBC reports.

According to reports, the patient recovered well from the procedure. The company hopes that this operation will revolutionize the treatment of neurological disorders and paralysis.

The FDA approved Neuralink in May 2023. This trial evaluates the functionality and safety of the implant using a robotic surgical system. The PRIME study involves surgically implanting ultra-thin brain signal transmission wires into the area of the brain associated with movement. Neuralink believes that this technology could enable individuals to use digital devices such as cursors and keyboards… simply by thinking about them.

Musk announced that his company’s first product would be Telepathy, which aims to control electronic devices simply by thinking. Musk explained that the first device was intended to help people who have lost the function of a limb.

Neuralink’s journey has not been without controversy. In December 2022, Reuters reported that around 1,500 animals had died during testing.

However, no violations were discovered during an investigation by the US Department of Agriculture.

The regulatory environment will come under increasing scrutiny as the field of brain-computer interfaces progresses. The FDA published its preliminary opinion on brain-computer interfaces in 2021. It noted the rapid progress made by the industry.

The technological and scientific community, as well as the patients who will benefit most from this technology, are closely monitoring trials and developments.

The White House under Trump had a drug problem

An investigation by the Defense Department’s Office of Inspector General has revealed alarming information about the White House medical unit under the Trump administration.

The in-depth report highlights problems with the administration of prescription drugs, including the over-prescribing of drugs to employees who were not entitled to them and the lack of proper records, NBC reports.

Reports covering pharmacy practices between 2017 and 2019 highlighted instances where Medical Unit dispensed controlled drugs such as Ambien (a sedative) or Provigil (a stimulant), without verifying patients’ identities.

Witnesses interviewed during the investigation revealed a disturbingly lax approach to drug distribution. They even failed to complete the necessary formalities for non-controlled substances, and sometimes distributed drugs such as Provigil as gifts to departing employees!

The investigation also shed light on how the White House medical unit procured large quantities of opioids such as fentanyl and morphine.

Fentanyl is of particular concern because of its potency and its role in the opioid epidemic plaguing the United States.

According to the report, the White House medical unit’s distribution methods demonstrate a disturbing disregard for federal regulations and guidelines established by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The report cites lack of oversight as the primary factor contributing to the mishandling of drugs.

The Inspector General’s report also revealed that thousands of people who were not eligible for care received care by proxy. This practice violated federal laws and regulations, as well as Department of Defense policies.

The Pentagon has accepted the Inspector General’s recommendations to improve administrative oversight and compliance with drug distribution policy.

The clinic is responsible for the day-to-day medical care of the President, Vice President, their families and White House staff.

The report does not place responsibility on the doctors or administrators.

5 years in prison for the man who leaked Trump’s information

Charles Littlejohn, who was accused of disclosing thousands of confidential tax records, including those of Trump, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, was sentenced to five years in prison, the maximum requested by federal prosecutors, NBC reports.

Last October, Littlejohn pleaded guilty to disclosing confidential financial information, including that of former President Donald Trump and thousands of wealthy Americans. Accused of accessing the IRS database, he stole private tax information, constituting a serious breach of IRS security.

From August to October 2019, Littlejohn allegedly transferred confidential data to various storage media, then providing it anonymously to several media outlets, including The New York Times.

Following the stolen data, the New York Times published several articles, highlighting that Trump had paid just $750 in federal income tax in 2016 and 2017. Another article exposed the tax avoidance tactics of billionaires such as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.

Court documents submitted as evidence indicated that Littlejohn had taken significant steps to destroy evidence in anticipation of an upcoming investigation, and these revelations would have increased the seriousness of his offense.

Littlejohn was scheduled to appear before U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes in Washington, D.C., on January 29, and the judge will ultimately impose the maximum sentence in this case.
