At the much-anticipated vice-presidential debate on October 1, Republican candidate JD Vance was sharply questioned by Democratic candidate Tim Walz about his stance on the 2020 presidential election and the events of January 6, 2021.

This crucial trade between Vance and Walz over election certification took place during the debate hosted by CBS News reporters Margaret Brennan and Norah O’Donnell.

Vance avoided Tim Walz’s question about his running mate Donald Trump losing the 2020 election, saying he preferred to focus on future issues, even after Walz asked him repeatedly.

Walz called it a “damning lack of response”, pointing out the stark differences between their positions on electoral democracy.

This refusal to acknowledge Trump’s defeat raises questions about the future of democracy and highlights the divisions within the Republican party over the integrity of present and future elections.

JD Vance dodged questions about the possibility of contesting the 2024 election results, despite certification from state leaders. Trump’s running mate, who is adept at diverting attention from the debate to other topics, asserted that censorship of social media was, in his view, the greatest threat to democracy, surpassing concerns about the 2020 elections.

Walz, for his part, pointed out that the refusal to accept the election results had contributed to the division of the nation.

Trump’s presidential campaign team released the video of the event, no doubt hoping it would go viral, and it sure did.

There’s no confirmation that it was actually Kid Rock who funded the chicken boxes launched by the former president, but he was spotted at the counter paying with a large quantity of chicken boxes in front of him.

Trump’s presence at this college football game is not surprising. He has indeed been spotted at numerous sporting events in the past during his election campaigns.

Trump likes to show up at sporting events during his campaign, where he is sometimes well received, as is the case here, but he also frequently receives a mixture of applause and booing during his appearances.

Caroline Giuliani, daughter of former New York mayor and Donald Trump’s ex-lawyer Rudy Giuliani, didn’t mince words about Trump, accusing him of stealing her father.

In an essay for Vanity Fair, Caroline Giuliani declared her support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, while expressing deep concern for America’s future should Donald Trump return to the White House.

Caroline Giuliani cites her father as an example, whose life has imploded since associating with Trump, first during his 2016 presidential campaign, then by joining Trump’s personal legal team in April 2018, and during the 2020 presidential election.

Giuliani’s decline is said to be linked to numerous lawsuits seeking to overturn election results, making false and discredited accusations about rigged voting machines, polling station fraud, and… an international communist conspiracy.

Rudy Giuliani even spoke at Trump’s rally ahead of the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, where he renewed his false accusations of voter fraud and called for a “trial by combat” against those he falsely accused.

Giuliani has been indicted in connection with the 2020 election prosecutions in Georgia, as well as similar charges in Arizona. He also lost $148 million in a defamation suit over his false accusations against two election officials in Georgia.

In 2024, Rudy was disbarred in New York State and the District of Columbia.

The asteroid was discovered on August 7 by a telescope on South African territory belonging to the University of Madrid astronaut team.

This discovery sheds light on the phenomenon of mini moons. These are small celestial objects that enter the Earth’s orbit for a short period of time, including this one, which passes within 4.5 million kilometers of the Earth while traveling at a speed of around 3,530 km/h.

Mini moons are unique in their fleeting nature. It’s because they don’t complete a full orbit that they stand out from other celestial bodies. The 2024 PT5 is scheduled to circle the Earth in 57 days, but its orbit will only be completed a quarter of the way before the object escapes into space.

The chances of amateur astronomers catching a glimpse of asteroid 2024 PT5 are practically nil. You’d need a professional telescope to catch a glimpse.

The next mini moon could orbit within the Earth’s magnetic field within the next five years, but for the moment, there are no others in sight.

Rest assured, this phenomenon is in no way dangerous to terrestrial security.

Bill Maher, who has often been criticized for predicting that Trump would win in past elections despite the many controversial events surrounding him, says, with six weeks to go before the election, that he is now convinced Trump will lose:

“We can feel it.”

This follows his statements a few weeks earlier in which he already claimed to think Trump would fail to return to the White House.

During a discussion at the “overtime” segment with his panel of guests, Maher pointed out that people seem to quickly forget the mistakes of the past, condemning them to repeat them. He gave the example of Trump, who was president only four years earlier, and noted that we seem to have completely forgotten what it was like.

Authorities in Pinellas County, Florida, were keen to warn the public about the risks associated with electric cars by releasing an alarming video following the damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

Authorities warn that electric car contact with seawater can damage lithium-ion batteries and create a fire hazard.

Hurricane Helene’s devastating devastation has already claimed more than 100 lives.

Hours after confirming that an attack on Israel was imminent, the threat materialized as ballistic missiles were launched at Tel Aviv, among other targets, by Iran.

Donald Trump, the former president, caused controversy at a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, this weekend by suggesting that America could benefit from a “violent day” to fight crime.

Many were quick to express outrage at Donald Trump’s comments, which seem to be inspired by the fictional plot of horror films The Purge.

Addressing his gathered supporters, he claimed that a tough, even violent, police response would solve the crime problem.

He suggested having “one really violent day,” would end shoplifting crimes immediately.

“One rough hour, and I mean real rough,” is another option, according to Trump.

Reactions to Trump’s remarks were swift and numerous, with some comparing them to Germany’s Kristallnacht in November 1938, while others pointed out that he was literally proposing the Purge.

They mentioned the similarities to The Purge movies, where all crimes, including murder, are allowed for 12 hours, while the rest of the year is crime-free.

In his speech, Trump blamed the rising crime rate on Democratic policies and immigrants.

However, the misinformation mentioned by the former president is part of a fictional narrative, as crime has actually decreased from levels seen in recent years.

Critics blame Trump for his inflammatory language, which they believe is likely to lead to violence, citing as an example the consequences of his comments leading to the Capitol insurrection of January 6, 2021.

The Democratic Party campaign office in Tempe, Arizona, was recently the target once again of a worrying attack, with police called after reports of gunshots heard on site on September 23.

This was the second shooting targeting the office in a week, sparking fear among employees and residents alike of traveling to the area concerned.

According to investigators, the door and windows of the Tempe office received at least five bullet holes. Fortunately, no one was in the building at the time the shots were reported.

Police, concerned for the safety of those working in and around the building, said they would be stepping up their presence in the area and taking additional measures to ensure public safety, while investigating the motives behind the attacks.

It should be remembered that a week earlier, the same office was attacked on the night of September 16, with impacts from projectiles appearing to be fired from a pellet or BB gun, according to investigators.

Yolanda Bejarano, chairwoman of the Arizona Democratic Party, announced that the party was working with law enforcement to take these threats very seriously and guarantee the safety of all its staff.

In the run-up to the election, campaign tensions are at their highest after two alleged assassination attempts targeting Republican candidate Donald Trump, as well as threats to Vice President Harris’s campaign office.

Security surrounding both candidates is at its tightest.

Harris will soon visit Arizona as part of her campaign, a key state she hopes to conquer, having been narrowly won by Joe Biden in 2020.

On September 25, a judge rejected the defense’s request to prevent the deposition of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, pointing out that he would have played a central role in the company’s decisions regarding its artificial intelligence technology.

Sarah Silverman, along with two other authors, Chris Golden and Richard Kadrey, filed a lawsuit in July 2023 against OpenAI and Meta, accusing them of copyright infringement.

In particular, the authors claim that these companies have illegally copied their books and used them to train AI systems without their consent, attribution or compensation.

In his decision, the judge states that the evidence presented by the plaintiff, including an article published in the New York Times, suggests that Zuckerberg would have directly and intensively supervised the development of artificial intelligence at Meta.

This evidence is deemed sufficient to warrant a court hearing.

This artificial intelligence dispute deserves particular attention, as the development and use of this technology has grown explosively in recent years, raising important ethical questions.

Notably, recently, a voice strongly resembling Scarlett Johansson’s was used without her consent for an OpenAI voice feature, which the latter vigorously denounced.
