Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always hits Netflix on April 19

The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are back with a new movie called Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always arriving on April 19th that features the original TV series’ cast.

All from the original 1993 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show, Richard Horvitz is back as Alpha 5, David Yost as the Blue Ranger Billy Cranston, Catherine Sutherland as Kat Hillard, the Pink Ranger, and Barbara Goodson returns as Rita Repulsa.

Unfortunately, the actors who played the Yellow Ranger and White/Green Ranger passed away and will not be featured in the new movie.

Based on the trailer, it seems like the Rangers will be travelling through time to thwart Rita Repulsa’s evil scheme to kill them before they become Rangers. Actors Johnny Yong Bosch and Karan Ashley are also joining the movie’s cast. Yong Bosch was the second Black Ranger, and Karan was the second Yellow Ranger.

What’s the most interesting about this trailer is how old the Rangers now are. There’s something appealing about middle-aged men and women Power Rangers.

Valve reveals Counter-Stike 2 is coming in summer 2023

In a surprise move, Valve has confirmed that Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) will release this summer.

The game will release as a free upgrade to CS:GO and runs on the developer’s Source Engine 2. Valve describes the game as “the largest technical leap forward in Counter-Strike’s history, ensuring new features and updates for years to come.”

In several videos, Valve highlighted Counter-Strike 2’s overhauled maps, new dynamic smoke grenades and “moving beyond tick rate” through a new “sub-tick” system.

“Counter-Strike 2 is the largest technical leap forward in Counter-Strike’s history, ensuring new features and updates for years to come,” said Valve during a trailer for the game.

Rumours regarding a numbered sequel to the original Counter-Stike started circulating a few months ago. This is the first confirmation from Valve that the game is in development.

A limited test of CS2 is available now, but only select players will be able to participate.

Apple’s iPhone 14 Plus reportedly sold better than the iPhone 13 mini

With its iPhone 14 series, Apple ditched the iPhone 13 mini in favour of the larger iPhone 14 Plus. Though the company hasn’t revealed official sales numbers, the undeniably cute 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini is believed not to have sold well, leading to Apple taking a chance on the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus in 2021 (it seems everyone that demanded a smaller iPhone didn’t actually purchase the device).

Fast-forward several months following the 14 Plus’ release, and it appears that — if the latest report from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC is accurate — this gamble paid off, and there is a market out there for a bigger base-level iPhone.

According to the DSCC, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus shipments are 59 percent higher than the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini over the same year-over-year period. This data contradicts earlier reports indicating the iPhone 14 Plus was not selling as well as Apple had hoped.

With this in mind, DSCC’s report indicates that while the iPhone 14 Plus has surpassed the iPhone 13 mini’s sales, it’s still well behind the iPhone 14 Pro Max with just 11 percent of overall shipments. In comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro Max holds 36 percent of overall display shipments, the iPhone 14 Pro holds 28 percent, and the iPhone 14 has 25 percent of overall shipments.

It’s believed that with the iPhone 15 series, Apple will stick with the current size lineup for its devices, including the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Plus, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which some rumours indicate could be called the iPhone 15 Ultra.

When I spent time with the iPhone 14 Plus earlier this year, I was impressed with the device and felt like it had the potential to sell better than the mini series given the modern smartphone industry’s focus on big, expansive displays. That said, I still missed the optical zoom the iPhone 14 Pro/Max offer.

The Nothing Ear (2) now available to order in Canada

Carl Pei’s Nothing has revealed its latest audio offering.

The Nothing Ear (2), a direct successor to the Nothing Ear (1), are now available to order in Canada, with the estimated shipping date set for Friday, March 24th and a price tag of $199.

The Ear (2) cost the same as Ear (1), and the new earbuds look almost identical to their predecessor, with the primary differences coming down to specs.

One of the most significant new features of the Ear (2) is its support for the LHDC 5.0 audio codec, which allows users to stream Hi-Res audio. Additionally, the Ear (2) offers a new personalized sound profile that enables users to calibrate the buds to their specific hearing after taking a quick test in the Nothing X companion app.

As leaks suggested, the Ear (2) offers dual pairing, enabling users to connect to two devices simultaneously, alongside support for adaptive active noise cancellation (ANC), which tunes out unwanted noises based on the user’s specific ear profile and surroundings. Both of these features we’re absent in the Ear (1). Further, leaks suggested that the buds would offer over 36 hours of battery life with the charging case, which also turned out to be true. The charging case can be charged with a USB-C wire or wirelessly.

Additionally, the buds offer an IP54 rating, while its charging case is IP55 rated against dust and water splashes.

The Ear (2) are now available to order from Nothing’s website for $199. Learn more about the Ear (2) here.

You can un-crop screenshots captured by the Windows 11 Snipping Tool

Earlier this month, details emerged about a flaw with Pixel phones’ Markup tool for editing screenshots. Dubbed ‘aCropalypse,’ the flaw allowed malicious actors to restore some or all of a cropped or redacted image.

Now it appears Windows 11 is impacted by a similar flaw.

Developer Chris Blume uncovered that the Windows 11 Snipping Tool is vulnerable to a similar exploit as was used for aCropalypse and shared the finding with Simon Aarons, one of the reverse engineers who discovered aCropalypse, on Twitter.

Bleeping Computer verified the exploit with David Buchanan, the other reverse engineer behind aCropalypse, and found that a slightly modified version of the script Buchanan made to extract hidden info from an edited Pixel screenshot worked on the Windows 11 Snipping Tool.

As with Pixel’s Markup software, the Snipping tool doesn’t completely erase unused parts of the PNG image data, such as parts of the image that are cropped out. This data can be partially or fully recovered.

However, it’s worth noting that the problem doesn’t impact all PNG files captured with the Snipping Tool, with optimized images being among those unaffected. Moreover, JPEG files also leave behind data, but so far, the exploit isn’t known to work with that file format. Finally, images that have been saved as another file in an image editing tool should be safe as well.

Microsoft told Bleeping Computer it was “aware of these reports and [is] investigating,” and it will take necessary action to protect users.

The flaw doesn’t appear to impact the Windows 10 Snipping Tool. Moreover, Buchanan isn’t publishing the modified scripts for the Windows 11 Snipping Tool since Microsoft hasn’t had a chance to patch it.

Meanwhile, Windows 11 users will want to be careful with what they capture using the Snipping Tool and where they share images. The main concern here is that someone might capture sensitive information in a screenshot and crop it out, but a malicious actor could restore the information using the modified aCropalypse script.

It’s worth noting that Google already pushed out a patch for aCropalypse to Pixel phones, but it doesn’t fix screenshots captured before the update.

Vancouver’s Kabam reveals new medieval RPG, King Arthur: Legends Rise

Vancouver-based Kabam has unveiled a medieval squad-based RPG called King Arthur: Legends Rise.

The studio best known for the likes of Marvel: Realm of Champions and Disney Mirrorverse revealed its latest title at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco.

King Arthur Legends Rise combat

In the game, you play as a young King Arthur who must recruit allies to aid him on a perilous quest. Throughout this journey, players will be able to build a roster of characters that draw from Arthurian legend, including knights, mages and rogues. King Arthur Legends Rise party

“Kabam has a rich history and proven track record of launching fun and enduring games on mobile — including Marvel Contest of Champions, Disney Mirrorverse, and Shop Titans — but as we look to the future, enabling our players to experience cross-platform progression and play is an essential part of what we want to offer our players,” said SeungWon Lee, Kabam CEO, in a statement. “King Arthur: Legends Rise represents the first game for this new direction.”

Opera browser adds AI tools, like prompts to shorten or explain text

Last month, Opera added OpenAI’s ChatGPT to the sidebar in its self-titled browser. Now the company is back with new AI additions to further complement the browsing experience with AI.

Opera detailed the new AI additions in a blog post. First up are ‘Smart AI Prompts,’ which give users quick access to helpful AI tools. Prompts include the ability to shorten text, whether it’s a paragraph, article, or even a whole website. Moreover, Prompts let you ask AI to tell you the main point of the page or help you craft a tweet.

Users will be able to access AI Prompts from a button in the address bar of the Opera and Opera GX browsers. It also looks like the Prompts will pop up when users select text in Opera. Clicking the Prompts will open the corresponding AI chat tool in the Opera sidebar to respond.

Speaking of which, Opera now has another AI chatbot in the sidebar alongside OpenAI’s ChatGPT: ChatSonic. Billed as a ChatGPT alternative with additional capabilities, ChatSonic can handle some of the AI Prompts and even create images for users.

Opera warns that users will need to create or log into accounts with the respective AI tools to actually use them in the browser.

Moreover, Opera says it’s not stopping there with AI integrations. The company claims it’s working on the second stage of its Browser AI program and even its own GPT-based browser AI engine.

To get access to the new Smart AI Prompts and ChatSonic in Opera, you’ll need to update your browser or download the latest version from Opera’s website.
