4 Quebec cities among the best places to live in the country!

According to a 2023 survey conducted by Moving Waldo, four Quebec cities have been ranked in the Top 10 best cities to live in Canada.

Three main criteria are used to determine the ranking of a livable city: safety (based on the crime rate), affordability and access to recreational facilities and parks.

To be fair, the best Canadian city to live in 2023 is Edmundston, New Brunswick.

Moving Waldo

Right behind the small city of nearly 17,000 people comes the City of Saguenay. In addition to offering some of the most affordable housing in Canada, the City of Saguenay is very safe.

The City of Saguenay is also versatile, offering its 144,000 citizens a full range of educational and recreational programs covering various fields of interest.

The third largest city in Canada is Lévis on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. Hiking trails, affordable housing and proximity to Quebec City are some of the reasons why it was ranked so high.

With a crime severity index of 27.04, Levis is also considered one of the safest cities in Quebec.

Speaking of Quebec City, the nation’s capital ranks 6th on this list. In addition to its impressive architecture and rich history, Quebec City was praised for its beauty, festival culture and quality of life.

As one of Canada’s leading cities, Quebec City boasts relatively low rents and a wide range of employment opportunities, earning it a spot in the Top 10.

Finally, the last Quebec city to rank is Thetford Mines, at #7.

This city of 26,000 people is affordable. According to Moving Waldo, you can rent a home in Thetford Mines for as little as $455 per month, which is 69% less expensive than the Quebec average .

The abundance of outdoor activities and proximity to Sherbrooke also make it an attractive location.

Here are the Top 10 Canadian cities to live in!

  1. Edmundston, New Brunswick
  2. Saguenay, Quebec
  3. Levis, Quebec
  4. Deep River, Ontario
  5. Trenton, Nova Scotia
  6. Quebec City, Quebec

A phenomenal success for Le 24h Tremblant, which has achieved its most important fundraising

The 24h Tremblant, presented by Sun Life, has achieved a colossal feat, its largest fundraising event since its creation.

Thanks to a record participation of 4300 participants, 24h Tremblant raised no less than 5.8 million dollars!

It was the 22nd edition of this weekend of “sport, surpassing oneself and philanthropy”, and it took place from December 9 to 11 live at Mont-Tremblant.

“The weekend was simply exceptional in every way. The participants were enthusiastic, the crowd was large and the energy was high. It is clear that people were happy to renew the tradition and celebrate in a big way after two years where the event was not able to develop its full potential. The sense of pride we feel is immense and we share it with our participants. Their efforts and involvement have an invaluable impact on children,” said Simon St-Arnaud, executive producer of the 24h Tremblant.

The association is certainly pleased with the profits raised… and to distribute them to the Charles-Bruneau Foundation, the CHEO Foundation and the Tremblant Foundation.

Again this year, the organization was able to count on a ton of artists, including Les Trois Accords, Busty and the Bass, Domeno, Dan D-Noy, Alicia Moffet, DJ Short Cut, David Laflèche, Jason Bajada, Guillaume Lafond, Brittany Kennel, Julie Dasilva, Charlie Rose Fradette, Gilbert Fradette, DJ Fehmiu and DJ Caro.

Since 2002, a little more than 20 million dollars have been used for research and the fight against pediatric cancers.

Pierre Bruneau exclaimed on this subject:

“Twenty years of thinking big and making common dreams come true for a childhood without cancer, there is much to celebrate!”

In addition to running, walking and skiing for 24 hours, ten ambassadors each sponsored a child, spending a wonderful time with each other.

Congratulations toDominic Arpin, Patricia Boal, Phil Denis, Derick Fage, Philippe Fehmiu, Benoît Gagnon and Frédéric Plante, as well as athletes Alexandre Bilodeau, Alexandre Despatie and Erik Guay for their generosity.

The next edition of the 24h Tremblant will take place in December 2023.

Maison Ladore wine wins prestigious award

Maison Ladore ‘s Cabernet Sauvignon has won the Judges’ Choice Award for the United States at the 2022 World Wine Selections Canada!

In fact, Maison Ladore owners Cassandra Loignon and her husband Max Bourdeau proudly announced the good news on the company’s Instagram page!

“Words fail us to share with you the level of pride we have. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is now a gold medalist, in addition to winning the Jury Award for the United States, at the Canada 2022 World Wine Selection. 🏅🍾,” reads the emotion-filled announcement.

“What is World Wine Selections Canada? Nothing less than the most important wine competition in North America, and the most renowned internationally! The members of the jury are mostly oenologists, graduates in the field of wine or recognized as experienced tasters”, adds the couple.

To win this prize, the wine had to have obtained the highest score in its country of origin.

Let’s recall that it is around September that the couple formed by the businessman Max Bourdeau and Cassandra Loignon, the chef and creator of the cookbooks Simplement Chic, made the launch live from a vineyard in Napa Valley.

Loignon shared the special moment when she taped the award-winning mentions to the bottles in a story!

Maison Ladore will also be present for tastings in most Costco’s in Quebec on December 1st and 2nd, from 1:30pm to 8pm, and on December 3rd and 4th from 11:15am to 5:45pm!

For those who would like to taste, the two grape varieties available are Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Have you tried Maison Ladore wines yet?
