As governments around the world step up surveillance, lawmakers in Canada and the U.S. are taking steps to address the national security risks of the TikTok app.
The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a proposal that requires TikTok, a Chinese company owned by ByteDance, to end its ties with the app within a specific timeframe. Otherwise, the app risks being banned in the United States. The move comes in response to growing fears that China may be using TikTok to collect data and influence operations.
TikTok, with over 170 million users in the U.S., is a global sensation, and if passed, would dramatically alter the social media landscape.
The Canadian government is keeping a close eye on TikTok’s activities. In September 2023, the federal Liberals launched a national security assessment, but have yet to announce their decision publicly. The move was prompted by concerns about the security and privacy of user data.
Steven Mnuchin, the former Treasury Secretary in the Trump administration, has expressed interest in leading a group of investors to buy TikTok if the bill passes.
However, the proposed sale is fraught with uncertainties due to geopolitics and TikTok’s algorithm, developed in China.
For the time being, TikTok’s fate remains undetermined in both Canada and the United States.
Actress Sydney Sweeney, best known for her roles in Euphoria and White Lotus, is a young woman who never ceases to impress, especially with her dresses and her silhouette on the red carpets.
However, her everyday taste in fashion should not be overlooked…
In her looks, she stands out for her simplicity, but also for her choice of colors.
Let us show you how to recreate this monochrome brown look on a budget!
Let’s start with a very simple top, which will serve as the base for this look.
For $29.99 at H&M, you’ll find this brown turtleneck, which will obviously come in handy not only for this look, but for many of your looks to come.
Either way… every woman needs a turtleneck in her wardrobe!
Then, a simple pair of shorts in a different shade of brown than the top will do the trick!
For $30.00 at Aubainerie, these twill shorts are comfortable and will hug your curves beautifully.
Add a pair of black tights underneath, which you already have or can find at Jean Coutu or Walmart, and you’re all set!
Next, the centerpiece of this look: the coat!
Once again, H&M is the place to find this dark brown fabric trench coat for $61.99.
Although the actress’ coat is made of leather, this one is a cheaper alternative that’s just as beautiful!
Now it’s the boots’ turn!
These on the Naturalizer site, called Axel Waterproof Boot, retail at $129.99, and the resemblance to Sydney’s is impressive.
Thanks to the wider heels and reasonable height, you’ll be stylish and comfortable!
Now for the accessories!
It’s time to call on our on-and-off friend Amazon to find the pair of glasses the actress wears.
Since they’re rather large for women’s glasses, here are men’s glasses that simply serve the look, with no strength inside.
For $33.99, she can be found under the name ZanyLen blue blocking glasses for men in gold metal, one size fits all.
Finally, the satchel.
This time, the bag isn’t brown, but eggplant, which brings a nice contrast to the look.
For $79.00, you’ll find this medium-sized Jet Set shoulder bag in Saffiano leather at Michael Kors.
A big name on a small budget, that’s a bargain!
So, now that you’ve got all the details to recreate this look, feel free to add your personal touch in the jewelry and above all… don’t dread the monochrome look any longer!

Despite the much-discussed absence of Timothée Chalamet, Denis Villeneuve and Tanya Lapointe were nothing short of beaming, clearly delighted to be back in the fold to present such a work to their peers.
It’s a source of great pride not only for the director, but also for his many fans, who have supported him since the beginnings of a career that has finally unfolded all the way to the top of Hollywood, where Denis Villeneuve is now in the conversation among the world’s top five directors.

The ’80s star on the wall of many a young teenager, Samantha Fox, will headline the Festival Innu Nikamu (the Innu community of Mani-Utenam in northern Quebec) on August 2.
Fox won’t be the only ’80s star, as Bryan Adams will close the festival, which ends on August 4. Coordinator Normand Junior Tshirnish is keen to mark Innu Nikamu’s 40th anniversary in style.
Tshirnish stressed that “this festival is very symbolic for the Innu of the North Shore, Labrador and many Aboriginal people in Quebec.
The Innu festival runs from July 30 to August 4, with the rest of the program to be announced in mid-April. Advertising will once again extend to the large billboards found on the highways around Montreal.
Let’s not forget that this festival was created in the ’80s because of Florent Vollant’s desire. That’s why we wanted to create a program that included artists who left their mark on the ’80s. We wanted to give it a nostalgic flavour!
This year, if there was one thing to remember about New York Fashion Week, it’s to combine the practical with the pleasurable!
Whether you’re going out for a romantic meal or a picnic in the park, there’s no rule that says you can’t feel elegant… and comfortable at the same time!
The return of the bodysuit
Let’s start with the first trend: the bodysuit, or leotard.
The beauty of the leotard, commonly known as a bodysuit, is that whatever your size or body type, it will hug your shape and define your silhouette.
It’s possible to find more sporty bodysuits, like this one, but also more chic and elegant.
Prices average between $10 and $50 in stores like Garage or Dynamite.
Transparent clothing!
Now for a second obvious trend: sheer clothing.
Sheer tops are versatile; they can be worn in many different ways.
Whether with a simple camisole underneath, a bralette or nothing at all, it goes with any bottom you have in your wardrobe: jeans, a skirt, cargo pants, work pants…
It’s up to you!
For no less than $6 at Zara, for example, it’ll be the star piece of your look, and all the while a pleasure to wear.
Don’t hide those shoulders
As for the third trend… we want to keep our shoulders clear!
What could be better than an off-the-shoulder top to create a comfortable, feminine look?
The top could just as easily be floral, for a more spring-like look, or dark, for an evening look, and the result would be the same: a revealing look that’s also easy to wear.
For prices ranging from $10 to $50… we say yes!
Bermuda shorts
The fourth trend, and one we’re particularly fond of, is Bermuda shorts!
Bermuda shorts are the current alternative when it comes to women’s shorts .
Say goodbye to chafing thighs and booty shorts, and make way for boyfriend-style Bermuda shorts!
The beauty of these shorts is that they can be worn both in a more feminine look, with a crop top, and in a more masculine look, with a shirt and your best pair of shoes!
Prices often range from $15 to $60 in popular stores like Simons, for example.
Did you say utility wear?
Finally, the fifth trend is utility wear.
This trend is characterized by a large number of pockets and compartments all over a piece of clothing.
It’s a more streetwear look, but can also be found in more classic looks.
As for prices, given the greater quantity of fabric, we’re talking more in the $50 to $150 range.
That’s it!
Which trend will you incorporate into your spring looks?
Eminem will dive into an exploration of the nuances and passions of fan loyalty through a documentary titled Stans, a title of course inspired by his own famous song (Stan) having subsequently coined the term for the overly passionate fans of certain celebrities.
The documentary promises an in-depth look at the relationship between stars and their most devoted admirers.
Eminem will not only play the role of producer, but also the central character in this captivating documentary story, it seems.
Eminem, whose 2000 song “Stan” coined the term for fanatical and sometimes delusional superfans, is co-producing a documentary on the phenomenon via his Shady Films. https://t.co/qgpfn3OxqN
Co-produced by Shady, DIGA Studios and Hill District Media, the documentary is scheduled for release at the end of the year.
The project is distributed by Paramount and MTV.
The documentary will offer a candid perspective on the experience of being a superfan, or a Stan, particularly at a time when access to the stars is easier than ever. The film will seek to highlight the more complex aspects of adoration, obsession and fanaticism.
Eminem, a prominent artist in rap music history, will provide a captivating backdrop to this exploration. The song Stan, one of Eminem’s most memorable, quickly became a symbol of intense fanaticism and will return to the center of the case.
Remember that the word Stan has now been widely officially recognized by numerous dictionaries!
