A replica of Jacques Villeneuve’s Williams sold at auction

On October 26, 1997, Jacques Villeneuve won the Formula 1 Championship, right under the nose of his fierce opponent and enemy on the track, Michael Schumacher.

This great victory marked the imagination of many people because a first Canadian was then crowned F1 champion, moreover following an unhealthy manoeuvre by the one who was going to become seven times world champion.

25 years later, this historic triumph is still remembered, and in order to celebrate it properly, a replica of the Williams FW19 has been designed and put up for auction.

F1 Authentics presents this superb show car, which has original bodywork, including the nose, front wing, floor, hood and rear wing tip.

The car is also equipped with real wheels, brake discs, calipers, pedals and the original steering wheel. It has a lot of original parts that this car used during the Villeneuve championship in 1997.

On the other hand, this car that was placed at auction does not have a gearbox or engine, which nevertheless makes it an incredible collector’s item for exhibitions.

The highest bid when the auction closed was 111,500 euros (151,467 in Canadian dollars).

U.S. Secretary of State chooses Montreal over Toronto

Anthony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, will be in Ottawa on Thursday and in Montreal on Friday for his first visit to Canada since taking charge of U.S. diplomacy.

https://twitter.com/LP_LaPresse/status/1585195818789011457

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, will take the opportunity to present the most beautiful attractions of the city, reports La Presse.

However, presenting activities to a member of the U.S. government is complex because the plan must be verified and approved by the Secret Service before it can be put into action!

Blinken was supposed to leave earlier for the United States, but he kindly accepted Ms. Joly’s invitation. These few hours in Montreal prove that he has a “special” relationship with Joly.

This claim was made by an anonymous government source.

As this source said, Blinken could have chosen Toronto instead of Montreal, but he opted for the city of the Sainte-Flanelle, which may say a lot about the good relationship between him and Melanie Joly.

Ms. Joly was in Washington on September 30 for a one-on-one meeting with the Secretary of State, which will be a second meeting for the duo in a short time.

A Montrealer makes it in the NBA!

Bennedict Mathurin played his first official game in the NBA on Wednesday night, as the Indiana Pacers season started at home against the Washington Wizards. It is important to note that during the presentation of the players, he was warmly welcomed, proving that the fanatics of the club see “great” in him.

Even if the Pacers lost 114-107, the performance of the 20-year-old guard dazzled many. From his first shots on the floor, he won with two baskets from downtown to close the first quarter.

In the end, he delivered a colossal performance as a sixth man scoring 19 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out two assists in 27:50 of playing time.

His family, including his 29-year-old older sister Jennifer, was thrilled with Bennedict’s first official performance. In fact, last summer, just before the draft, his sister decided to follow him wherever he went.

Katherine Harvey-Pinard, from La Presse, had the chance to speak with her and her brother live at the Starbucks near their apartment, and Jennifer opened up about her decision to mentor her younger brother.

She stressed that this step is a big step for her brother, and she really wants to make that sacrifice to make sure it goes well. To make this happen, Jennifer quit her job as a coach with the Bishop’s University Gaiters.

Mathurin is only 20 years old, so Jennifer helps him coordinate appointments, handles the business side of basketball, and also helps him with the housework.

It’s simple, she plays the role of an agent, in addition to that of a big sister!

A very nice story.

NFL Sunday was as striking as a sleeping pill, causing the Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator’s existential crisis to go viral.

Ken Dorsey, who finds himself in a dressing room deconstructing and guiding his own, lost his mind following the Bills’ first loss by smashing his headset and tablet.

Late in the 4th quarter, Isaiah McKenzie failed to get out of bounds to stop the clock on a Josh Allen pass, preventing the team from starting one last play.

So the game ended 21-19 in favor of the Miami Dolphins…and Allen reacted like he had just lost a Super Bowl.

So he consoled himself in the arms of his opponent!

Here’s a bonus statement fromMcKenzie after the duel, who was fully aware of his mistake.
