Following a week-long trial in Wilmington, Delaware, the jury delivered its verdict after approximately three hours of deliberation on the second day. The verdict is historic, marking the first time an American president’s child has been convicted.

The conviction follows an incident in October 2018, in which Hunter Biden allegedly lied on a federal application form about his drug use when purchasing a Colt revolver. Three counts were filed, including making false statements about Biden’s addiction, certifying that statements made by him are true, and possessing a firearm illegally.

During the trial, Hunter Biden’s drug addiction problems were scrutinized. Although Hunter Biden’s lawyer argued that the prosecution had failed to provide tangible evidence of Hunter Biden’s crack cocaine use during the month of the gun’s purchase and possession, as no witnesses had seen Hunter use drugs during this period, text messages on his phone contradicted this argument.
