Catherine Zeta-Jones May Join Cleo

Catherine Zeta-Jones may be starring as Cleopatra in Steven Soderbergh’s next film.

Soderbergh is currently developing a musical film in 3D about the life of Cleopatra, reports Variety.

The director hopes that Catherine Zeta-Jones will play the Egyptian queen, and that Hugh Jackman will star as her lover, Marc Anthony.

The film, which is being called Cleo for the moment, would have a budget of $30 million.

Music for the project will be written by the indie rock band Guided by Voices, while the screenplay will be written by James Greer.

In the meantime, we can next see Catherine Zeta-Jones in The Rebound, opening on January 23.  Also, according to the latest rumours, the actress will share the screen with her husband, Michael Douglas, in the film Racing the Monsoon, which begins filming next year.
