Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole brought a surprise back with her from Tanzania. After she collapsed during a photo shoot, tests revealed she had picked up malaria. The British beauty had taken a short vacation in the African nation with her rumoured beau, Dancing with the Stars regular Derek Hough.
Malaria is nothing to sneeze at. Cole contracted a severe case of the potentially life-threatening disease and spent some time at a special London hospital that deals with tropical diseases.
Now the rising star is back home in Surrey, England and wants to recover in peace. To this end, "Cheryl has made a few changes at home. She is spending more time there than ever while she recuperates." The source went on to add: "She hasn’t received any threats but thought it wise to update all the precautions. She believes a more secure domestic situation will help her return to full strength sooner."
Cheryl Cole was forced to wipe her schedule clean as she tends to her health. This means she will not be sitting alongside Simon Cowell as a judge during auditions for the next X Factor reality show in the UK.
