Chewing Gum May Be Beneficial

Chewing sugarless gum reportedly helps reduce the consumption of  sugary snacks.

According to a new study, men and women who chew sugarless gum three times per hour during the afternoon tend to snack less, and more particularly, consume less sweets than when they aren’t chewing gum, reports ScienceDaily.

The participants still continued to munch on non-recommended foods, but the overall decrease in consumption, in this case, was significant. They consumed approximately 40 fewer calories from snacks and 60 fewer calories from sweets.

This study included 115 men and women aged 18 to 54. One study was conducted when the participants were chewing gum, while the other was conducted without the gum.
