Chloë Sevigny unveils third fashion collection

Actress-fashion designer shows off new collection for Opening Ceremony.

American actress, fashion designer and former model Chloë Sevigny, 36, showed off her third collection for Opening Ceremony boutique. A preview of the collection which went on pre-sale on Monday (December 13) is featured at fashionologie.com

The ready-to-wear summer resort collection for the Manhattan and Los Angeles boutiques will feature five styles of dresses available in five different prints, as well as shorts, t-shirts, jeans and accessories.

Sevigny want a collection that was whimsical, comfortable and affordable. The collection’s boots are a reissue of the NaNa Shoes, a brand the actress has worn since her teens, and T-shirts were created with the help of the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation.

The actress said: "I thought about my wardrobe and the fact that I always buy the same pieces again and again. If I could, I would buy one dress but in different prints."

Leopard, polka dot, floral, houndstooth cashmere, and baby doll empire waist dresses designed by the actress are feminine and playful. "These are prints that I’ve worn since I was old enough to buy my own clothes…”

In terms of her own personal style, Sevigny has been outspoken in her favoritism of vintage clothing over designer pieces: "I still prefer to buy vintage over spending it all on one designer,” she told The Times.

"I’ll go to Resurrection or Decades and be like, ‘Oh, I’m going to buy everything,’ but a lot of it is extremely expensive, so I’ll go to Wasteland and satisfy that urge and it’s not too hard on the pocketbook. Then there’s this place called Studio Wardrobe Department where everything is like three dollars".

Accessories include sunglasses designed by Barton Perreira, shoes and print tights by Fogal. The collection is scheduled for release this month and prices start at $218 for dresses, and $266 for the shoes.
