Chris Brown leads nominations for Soul Train Awards

R&B crooner tops Beyoncé and Kanye West with five nominations.

R&B singer Chris Brown leads the pack at the 2011 Soul Train Awards, having scored five nominations for the event, which will be broadcast on U.S. network BET on November 27, reports Teen Music.

Coming off the success of his fourth studio album F.A.M.E. – which features guest vocals from Justin Bieber, Ludacris, Lil Wayne, and Busta Rhymes – Brown is up for best male R&B/soul artist, song of the year, album of the year, record of the year, and best dance performance.

Trailing close behind Brown, singer Beyoncé and rapper Kanye West scooped up four nominations apiece, while Rihanna, Adele, and Kelly Rowland were nominated in three categories each. Soul icon Gladys Knight and funk group Earth, Wind & Fire will both receive Legend Awards at the event.

Jill Scott, Robin Thicke, Natalie Cole, and BeBe Winans are scheduled to perform at the taping on November 17, and comedian Cedric the Entertainer will host.
