Singer Chris Brown pleaded guilty yesterday (June 22) for assault against Rihanna, in a Los Angeles court.
By pleading guilty, Brown has avoided a prison sentence. However, he was sentenced to five years probation and 180 hours of community service. In addition, he should undergo therapy to learn how to manage his anger. The singer is not allowed to make contact with Rihanna and must keep a distance of 45 metres from her. At industry events, he must stay further than 9 metres away.
Rihanna made a brief appearance in court after Brown left the room. The judge explained everything to her, adding that she must stay away from her ex-boyfriend and not attempt to make any contact.
The official sentence will be announced on August 5.
