The project was initiated by R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe, and the disc will be released exclusively by iTunes Music Store on Sunday. Stipe and his band recorded their album, Automatic for the People, in New Orleans, the Louisiana town hardest hit by the storm.
The benefit CD will contain six versions of the song In The Sun, including versions performed by Chris Martin, from Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, and Will.I.Am (Black Eyed Peas), and a live version performed by Coldplay.
