Chris Wideman: the chances of him playing this season are “pretty slim”.

For several weeks now, Chris Wideman’s state of health has been nebulous at best. The defenseman has yet to play this season, not even taking part in training camp, and has been on the long-term injury list for weeks.

There’s been no real update on his condition since, except perhaps that he watched a game alongside Kent Hughes earlier this season. That’s often not a sign that heralds a player’s imminent return, Paul Byron’s word.

So we wondered… and according to Renaud Lavoie, it’s not tomorrow morning that the defenseman will be back in town. During tonight’s first intermission, he revealed that the chances of Wideman playing this season are “pretty slim”.

He’s with the club right now since the CH is in St. Louis, where he lives, but he’s not around the team on a regular basis.
