Christian Bale in high demand

Batman actor considering a number of projects.

Currently filming the third and final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy The Dark Knight Rises, recent Academy Award winner Christian Bale (The Fighter) is considering numerous projects, reports Variety.

Yesterday (August 24), it was announced he would star in another Terrence Malick film, as yet unnamed; the two worked together on 2005’s The New World.

Bale just completed filming the Chinese historical drama The 13 Women of Nanjing set for release in 2012.

The Machinist star has been approached to play the villain in a remake of the South Korean mystery-thriller Old Boy, to be directed by Spike Lee. The original version won the Grand Prix at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival and high praise from director Quentin Tarantino.

The 37-year-old British actor is also in talks with Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky for the biblical film Noah, Clint Eastwood for his remake of A Star is Born starring Beyoncé, and Michael Mann, whom he worked with in Public Enemies, for the film Gold.

Currently, Bale has not committed to any of these projects, and will decide only after the completion of The Dark Knight Rises, which costars Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Anne Hathaway, and opens in theaters July 20, 2012.
