It did not take much time following the return of Christina Aguilera for people to start asking whether she was modelling herself on the "it" pop star of the moment, Lady Gaga.
Aguilera announced last week that she was postponing her scheduled tour to have more time to practice the moves. She also said she wanted to give fans more time to learn the songs on her new album, Bionic, hitting store shelves on June 8.
Now that she set the record straight about her cancelled tour, Aguilera tries to clear the air about her new video for Not Myself Tonight. She explains it is a tribute to Madonna who has greatly influenced her throughout her career.
She said, "One of my favourite videos ever is Express Yourself by Madonna which came across as really strong and empowering which I always try to incorporate through my expression of sexuality. I love the direct reference I made to Madonna with the eye glass moment and the smoke and stairs. I was paying tribute to a very strong woman who has paved the way before."
