Christina Aguilera to sing at Super Bowl

Grammy award-winning singer will sing national anthem in front of the largest global TV audience.

The grand finale’s of America’s national sport, football’s Super Bowl, is watched by more than 100 million television viewers on the planet. Last year’s broadcast set a new record of 153 million viewers – making it the most-watched television program in history.

On February 6, as part of the pregame festivities at Cowboys Stadium in North Texas, Grammy award-winning pop star Christina Aguilera will sing the American national anthem in front of fans in the stadium and those watching TV around the world.

After the birth of her son, Max, in 2009, Aguilera has spent much of the last year returning to the music scene and acting the lead role in the musical Burlesque, however her career has not yet returned to the heights she enjoyed when she was younger. Her Super Bowl appearance could very well help the singer climb back up the ladder of popularity.

Another performance at the Super Bowl worth mentioning is the halftime show – usually considered the ultimate gig due to the huge audience in attendance – which will feature the Black Eyed Peas.

Super Bowl 2011 will pit the Pittsburgh Steelers against Green Bay Packers on February 6.
