This movie is based on the book, The Human Factor: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Changed the World, by John Carlin.
Damon will play the Springboks captain, and Morgan Freeman will play Nelson Mandela.
The South African screenwriter Anthony Peckham (Don’t Say a Word), wrote the screenplay.
The movie takes place after the fall of apartheid, when South Africa had the world cup rugby tournament in 1995. Mandela was in his first term as President of South Africa at that time, and used this event as an opportunity to put an end to the hate between blacks and whites.
