Lead singer Chris Martin revealed that his relationship with the band members was rocky before they began the recording sessions, reported FemaleFirst.
Martin explained that two years ago, the group reached a point where they were not as close as they used to be. The band did not have good energy between the members.
The musicians finally decided to work harder at restoring their friendship, with a little help from Brian Eno, who worked as a director on the album.
Martin stated, "We had to get our own place and then call Brian in. We decided to play in a little room, forget the awards and reviews."
Coldplay will launch their all new album, Viva la Vida, on June 12.
