Coldplay Raises Big Bucks for Children’s Charity

Chris Martin and his band have sold $404 000 worth of items for a good cause.

In the spirit of the holidays and perhaps to clear out a little more space, Coldplay sold their personal belongings to raise funds for the London charity Kids Company, which comes to the aid of needy children.

The End Of Decade Clearout Sale managed to raise $404 000 with clothing worn by members of the group on different occasions, such as the get-up that Chris Martin wore for the video for Strawberry Swing, which quickly found its buyer.

Guitarist Jonny Buckland put his Viva Thinline ’72 Tele guitar up for sale and raised $24 300.

Kids Company aids children in London who lack parental support. This isn’t the first time that the band has lent a helping hand to the charity. Last September, they donated 1.5 million dollars to the organisation, and promised to give free music lessons to the children.
