Coldplay unveils final song from new album

Alt rockers debut Up in Flames during television concert.

English alt rockers Coldplay unveiled a new song, Up in Flames, during the taping of PBS show Austin City Limits yesterday (September 15).

Up in Flames is the latest and final song to be revealed from the track-list of Coldplay’s upcoming album, Mylo Xyloto. With a falsetto chorus and driving rhythm, the new track was recorded only five weeks before the show’s taping, just in the nick of time to make the album’s final cut.

Mylo Xyloto is due to hit shelves on October 24. The new LP will be available in a special limited edition Pop-Up Album version, which includes a hardcover pop-up book of graffiti art designed by David A. Carter, exclusive content, and both a vinyl and CD version of the album.

The television show – which, at 37 years old, is one of the longest-running television programs on American airwaves – was taping its New Years Eve episode, which required some creative acting on the part of the band, who had to pretend it was the dead of winter and not the tail end of one of the hottest summers in Texas.
