Colin Farrell revealed that his four-year-old son, James, has a rare neuro-genetic disorder called Angelman Sydrome. People reported that despite the diagnosis the child seems happy and courageous.
Angelman Syndrome is a disease that affects the brain, can cause probems in motor development, intellectual and/or language delays, problems with sleep and seizures.
The actor stated, "The only time I’m reminded that there is something different about him – that he has some deviation of what is perceived to be normal – is when I see him with other 4-year-olds. Then I go, ‘Oh yeah,’ and it comes back to me. But from day one I felt that he’s the way he’s meant to be."
Farrell has joint custody of James with his ex-girlfriend, Kim Bordenave.
