Columbia to Re-Release a Billy Joel Classic

Columbia Records is going to re-launch the album The Stranger by Billy Joel.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first album launch of The Stranger, Columbia/Legacy is going to issue two special editions of the Billy Joel classic on July 3.

The first edition consists of 2 CDs, and the second edition will have a promotional DVD containing footage of an episode from the show The Old Grey Whistle Test on BBC, dated 1978, where the singer was a guest.

Each of the editions will include coverage of Joel’s concert Live at Carnegie Hall 1977, which has never been released to the public.

During that era, the singer received a Grammy for Best Song of the Year for Just the Way You Are, and also received an award for Album of the Year.

Billy Joel, who is now 58, will be performing in concert soon at the New Orleans Jazz Festival on April 26 and at Shea Stadium in New York on July 16 and 18.
