Comedian Bernie Mac Dies

Comedian Bernie Mac, who starred in the films Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve, and Ocean’s Thirteen, among others, has died at the age of 50.

Danica Smith, a spokesperson for the actor, told People magazine that Mac died from complications brought on by pneumonia last Saturday (August 9).

On August 1, Bernard Jeffery McCullough, the star’s real name, was admitted to Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital with pneumonia.  Despite how ill Mac was, his rep told the press that she believed the comic would soon recover.

George Clooney, who also starred in the Ocean’s films, quickly expressed his condolences, saying, "The world just got a little less funny. He will be missed dearly."

In addition to many friends in Hollywood, Bernie Mac leaves behind his wife, Rhonda McCullough, whom he married in 1977, and their 30-year-old daughter, Je’Niece.
