Concertgoers give it to Axl Rose

Axl Rose finds out the hard way that Irish fans don’t like to be kept waiting.

Singer Axl Rose has an annoying habit of being late. Some Irish fans had enough last night (September 1) and took their revenge on the Guns N’ Roses frontman.

Belligerent concertgoers in Dublin started throwing bottles and booing when Rose finally arrived an hour late on stage.

Rose cut the band off in the middle of playing Welcome to the Jungle and addressed the crowd: "Alright, here’s the deal: one more bottle, we go home. It’s up to you. We would like to stay. Do you want us to stay? We want to stay, we want to have some fun. If you don’t want to have fun, all you’ve got to do is let us know — we got no problem — and we’ll go on our way."

Guns N’ Roses played three more songs before leaving the stage to get away from the bottle throwers. The show did resume for a short set but by then most people had left.

A few Canadian cities have their own cherished Axl Rose memory. A riot erupted in Montreal in 1992 when Rose arrived late. Another riot broke out in Vancouver in 2002 when he did not show up at all.
